Introduction
Oracle has been working hard for several years is building Oracle Fusion Applications which are slated to be released sometime during 2010. In this session we will learn basic concepts of Fusion Applications.

Objectives
We have the following four objectives in this session. Discuss about the Oracle Fusion Applications- What, Why, etc Review key concepts and ideas behind Fusion Applications. Discuss the key technologies used by Oracle Fusion Applications. Inform users how they can prepare for the adoption of Fusion Applications.

What Is Fusion Application and Its Releases

In the recent years we have heard terms like Fusion Middleware, Fusion Development Tools, and Fusion Technology. Fusion Applications is not any of them. Rather Fusion Application is a Business application. Fusion Application is not any of the current applications (EBS, PSFT, Siebel, JDE). Fusion Application is all of the current applications (EBS, PSFT, Siebel, JDE). It will assimilate best of breed features from EBS, JD Edwards, PeopleSoft, Siebel. The first version of Fusion Applications will include the following modules: ->Financials ->HCM ->CRM ->SCM ->Procurement ->Project Portfolio Management ->Enterprise Performance Management ->GRC

Oracle Fusion Financials are Integrated with Oracle Hyperion components which are -> Oracle Hyperion Reporting tools. -> Oracle Essbase. -> Oracle Hyperion Financial Management System.

Oracle Hyperion Reporting tools delivers a unique reporting platform. This reporting platform unique is embedded with multi-dimensional data model It allows users to quickly analyze data from different perspectives from the same system that is used for entering transactions and generating financial and management reports. It provides business users with a highly interactive user experience when manipulating and analyzing data. Oracle Essbase provides excellent query performance and it allows large quantities of data to be stored and organized in a very efficient way that can be accessed and analyzed quickly for initiative and immediate decision support.

Oracle Fusion Financials introduced Configurable Dashboards. These Configurable Dash Boards consolidate information from a variety of sources, actively monitor process. It means all this information is displayed on the single page, users no longer need to perform time-wasted searches, access multiple transaction pages or run multiple reports to understand their priorities. For example the Payables Manger Dashboard. A payable Manager typically has to run multiple reports or queries and access multiple screens to resolve problems. Oracle Fusion Payables provides a Payable Manager Dashboard that tracks status of supplier invoices , such as invoices requiring approval, invoices on hold, suppliers on hold, and more all from a consolidated page, Now the Payable Manager can takes the action directly from the Dashboard to resolve issues. Oracle Fusion General Ledger Provides General Ledger Accounting Dashboard which allows Accounting Manager to view their for monitoring the accounts , correct the Journal Approval Errors, Journal Import errors, Intercompany transaction errors, Journal posting errors and the close status across ledgers and sub ledgers.

Reconciling transactions can also be a very time-consuming manual process. Oracle Fusion Financials expedites the reconciliation process with interactive reports that compare open receivables and open payables balances to the corresponding balances in Fusion General Ledger. If differences exist it performs the process of matching each transactions to its respective accounting entry and automatically find all transactions and accounting entries that contribute to the out-of-balance situation. Accountants can then quickly drill down to the transactions to investigate discrepancies. Finally it allows us to gain greater visibility and control of the close process , the close status allows you to monitor the close status across Fusion subledgers such as Fusion Payable, Fusion Receivables, Fusion Assets and Ledgers in General ledger.

Oracle Fusion General Ledger integrated with FAH which stands for Fusion Accounting Hub. Oracle Fusion Accounting Hub provides integration to both Oracle E-Business Suite and PeopleSoft Enterprise General Ledgers. As a Reporting platform, FAH offers E-Business Suite and PeopleSoft customers exceptional reporting and analytics with minimal disruption to their current financial processes. As an accounting integration platform, FAH standardizes the accounting from nonoracle(Legacy) party transactional systems to efficiently create detailed, auditable, and reconcilable accounting to any General Ledger system. Oracle FAH provides many of the innovations like role based Dashboards, Spreadsheet integration.

Finally Integration between Oracle General Ledgers(E-Business Suite and PeopleSoft) and the Oracle Fusion Accounting Hub has three main components: -> Synchronization of COA, calendars, and ledgers. -> Transfer of data and financial results from the Oracle GL to FAHs Fusion GL. -> Drilldown from Fusion Accounting Hub to the Oracle General Ledgers.
