CI.:one, head-extending, of fierce temper falls to the neck (in a pit) Is exaltation necessary to thee?- seek not exaltation. W.: The arrogance, harsh natured man will break his neckThe eminence is what youd have, then seek not eminence!
WI.: Seek not for the way of Islam from one worldproud ; Seek not God-beholding from one self-beholding. W.: Seek not the way of Faith from one with the world deluded, Seek not regard for God from one whos selfregarding.
CI.: if rank be necessary to thee, - like the mean, Look not at persons with the eye of contempt.
W.: If lofty station you would have, then look not (like the base) With disparagements eye upon other persons

CI.: When thou art standing on the lofty house, - If thou art wise laugh not at the fallen. W.: When in high station you are standing, Laugh not, if you be prudent, at those whove fallen:
CI: There came down off his feet, many a standing one, Whose place, the fallen took. W.: Manys the standing man who lost his footing, While those whod fallen took his place!
CI.: Make thyself, by manners, concordant, with whomsoever thou mayst see, Whether he be inferior, or superior. W.: In manner, with everyone you see, practice accommodation, Whether they be subordinate or those who hold their heads aloft:
CI.: One can, by sweet speech, carry away the ball (of power) ; But one of bad disposition, constantly, endures bitterness. W.: With sweetness of tongue one may bear off the ball, Whereas the man sharp-mannered continually bears off bitterness ;

If you want to attain a lofty station practise humility and avoid ignorance.

Treat those who are subordinate with good ethics

Talk with people by sweetness of speech and affection and avoid bad disposition and violence.
