Software to Be Installed
LMT: The CGP LMT and SGSN9810 LMT run on the PC, functioning as the
operation and maintenance client. The LMTs interact with the CGP LEM (LMT server) on the OMU to implement functions such as running operation commands, returning reports, tracing messages, displaying alarms, and
measuring performances.
CGP installation media: Suse Linux operating system running on the boards,
Oracle database, and CGP network element package (including CGP application software).

Description
Before installing the software, make the following preparations: Check the hardware. Check the IP address of the SMM. Check the dual-inline package (DIP) switches of the SDM. Obtain the software package. Check whether the software is installed on the OMU before the SGSN9810 is delivered. The operations involved in the OMU server installation are as follows: Install the OMU server through the incremental installation method or complete installation method. (You can install the OMU server to one OMU or two OMUs.) Check whether the OMU server is installed successfully. Install the OMU client on the PC. Log in to the OMU. Then, configure the software of the SGSN9810 by running man-machine language (MML) commands.

Eight switches are available as shown in the preceding figure, and they indicate eight binary
bits (0 or 1) respectively. The 8-bit binary value ranges from 00000000 to 11111111, corresponding to subrack numbers 0 to 255. The leftmost bits are the most significant bits, and the rightmost bits are the least significant bits. In the preceding figure, all the switches are set to 0 (OFF); therefore, the subrack number is 0. To set the subrack number to 1, set switch 8 to 1 (ON); to set the subrack number to 2, set switch 7 to 1 (ON); to set the subrack number to 3, set switches 7 and 8 to 1 (ON); the other subrack numbers are conducted by analog.

The SMM is used to manage all hardware devices in the advanced telecom computing architecture
(ATCA) subrack. After the SMM is installed, two internal IP addresses will be available, corresponding to the IP address of the Base 1 plane and the IP address of the Base 2 plane respectively. The SMM uses the internal IP addresses to process internal data of the subrack. Slot Number 14 Network Port eth1 eth2 15 eth1 IP Address 172.17.(128 + Subrack number).112 172.16.(128 + Subrack number).112 172.17.(128 + Subrack number).120 Subnet Mask 255.255.0.0 255.255.0.0 255.255.0.0 Function To interconnect with the Base 2 plane To interconnect with the Base 1 plane To interconnect with the Base 2 plane

255.255.0.0
Note: In this slide, "(128 + Subrack number)" represents the sum of 128 and the subrack number. For example, if the subrack number is 2, "172.16.(128 + Subrack number).120" represents an IP address of 172.16.130.120. IP addresses of the Base planes are used for internal management of the SGSN9810. These IP addresses are internally unique, and they do not conflict with external IP addresses; however, you are not advised to set external IP addresses to the IP addresses in the same network segment as the internal IP addresses.

The methods for logging in to the SMM through the KVM over IP are as follows:
1. Login through the maintenance network: Connect the PC with the external network port on the SMM by using network cables, and enter the external IP address of the SMM in the Microsoft IE address bar.
2. Login through local direct connection: Set an IP address (in the same network segment as
the internal IP addresses of the SMM), such as 172.16.128 + Subrack number.200, for the PC. Use the network cable to connect the PC and any Base network port on the back board of the switching network board in slot 6. Then, enter the internal IP address of the SMM in the Microsoft IE address bar.
Method 1 implements remote login, and method 2 implements local login. Select a method according to actual conditions.

If no IP address is set for the OMU, this is the only method to log in to the OMU.
Note:
1. Before using the KVM over IP, you must install the Java runtime environment
(JRE) on the PC. 2. Slots of boards that are logged in through the KVM over IP are numbered from 1 rather than 0.

Run setup.bat. The installation sequence number is SGSN9810 (case
sensitive).
After setup.bat is executed, both the CGP LMT and the SGSN LMT
are installed.
Currently, the LMT supports the Windows 2000 and Windows XP
operating systems, but does not support the Windows NT operating system.
The LMT provides you two language versions: English and Chinese.

Optional values of this parameter are OMU and Other. Here, select OMU. This parameter specifies the location of the software package. By default, the software package is stored in the software folder of the INU4WIN directory. Click Check to check whether the software to be installed is present in the specified path.
Installation Mode
If a correct operating system is already installed on the target OMU, select Incremental Installation. If no operating system is installed on the target OMU, select Complete Installation. Here, select Incremental Installation.
To install software to a single OMU, select Single-server mode. To install software to two OMUs, select HA mode. Here, select HA mode.
Running Mode
Optional values of this parameter are English and Chinese. Select English or Chinese based on actual requirements. This parameter specifies whether to back up installation files of the OMU. If no installation files are backed up, No backup is displayed automatically. If installation files are backed up, you can use the backup installation files to restore the previous software of the OMU. These parameters specify the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway IP address for logging in to the OMU through the LMT. This parameter specifies whether to copy the software package to the OMU. If it is not selected, you can upload the software package to the OMU by File Transfer Protocol (FTP). This parameter specifies the subrack number and slot number of the active OMU. The subrack number ranges from 0 to 19, and the slot number ranges from 0 to 13. This parameter specifies the host name of the active OMU. This parameter specifies the network port on the active OMU. Through this network port, the active OMU interworks with external devices. This parameter specifies the physical IP address, subnet mask, and gateway IP address of the active OMU. This parameter specifies the subrack number and slot number of the standby OMU. The subrack number ranges from 0 to 19, and the slot number ranges from 0 to 13.
