Introduction
Fossil fuel has been peoples main source of energy for centuries. But the emission from fossil fuel combustions contributed in environmental pollutants. Beside, scarcity has attacked fossil fuel.

Introduction
Alternative source of energy is needed. To minimize the environmental pollutants and to prepare for fossil fuel scarcity. Bioethanol is one of those alternative energy we needed.

What is Bioethanol?
Denatured alcohol which also called Methylated Spirits. Renewable source of energy made by fermenting sugar and starch components. Usually use rich carbohydrate plants as feedstock such as potatoes (17,5%), corns (18,7%), and rice (23%). Clean emission energy source. http://www.chem.ucla.edu/harding/I

Indonesia as a tropical country got various kind of plants. The geography position of Indonesia on the equator line gives advantages. Such as good soil and good weather for the growth of various plants. Those diversity of plants we got could be utilized as the feedstock in bioethanol production. Bioethanol could substitute the use of fossil fuel which will lead to the decreasing of environmental problems.
Eucheuma spp. is an abundant natural resources here in Indonesia with high concentration of carbohydrate (48,83%). Eucheuma spp. is not the main source of food. The cultivation of Eucheuma spp. is simple, no need of pesticides, fresh water, and soil. Mass cultivation of Eucheuma spp. could minimize the CO2 level in our atmosphere. 75% of our country is covered by sea water. http://www.fatsecret.com/caloriesnutrition/generic/algae-dried
Conclusions
Bioethanol is one of the renewable yet eco-friendly alternative energy we need to substitute the fossil fuel as main energy source. Eucheuma spp. which is rich in carbohydrate (48,83%) is suitable for being a renewable feedstock for bioethanol production in Indonesia. We could get more bioethanol from Eucheuma spp. than from corn, potato, and rice.
The cultivation of Eucheuma spp. is simple and doesnt need soil, pesticides, fertilizers, and fresh water which means will not
