What is
God like?
Who is He?
God is who the
Bible (in its
totality) reveals
Him to be.
The Bible Reveals God To Be
1. All Good
2. All Powerful
3. All Wise
4. Eternal
5. Holy
6. Just
7. Merciful
1 Peter 4:5
But remember that they
will have to face God,
who will judge everyone,
both the living and the
dead.
Judgment
God distributes
rewards and
punishments.
Mercy
Not receiving the
punishment we
deserve.
Grace
Receiving a
reward that we
didn’t earn.
Merciful
• He is originally merciful.
Mercy begins with Him.
• He is essentially merciful.
Mercy is His nature.
• He is infinitely merciful.
You can’t measure His mercy.
• He is immutably merciful.
His mercy is never more or less.
Showing Mercy
1. Gracious and kind to the
downtrodden.
2. Giving to those in need.
3. Praying for the lost.
4. Sharing the “Good News”
about the love of Christ.
5. Forgiving others.
Forgiveness
• God’s mercy is for
the repentant.
• God’s judgment is
for the unrepentant.
God
is
Faithful

Your unfailing love, O
LORD, is as vast as the
heavens; your
faithfulness reaches
beyond the clouds.

Heaven’s Armies! Where

You are entirely
faithful.
Psalm 119:90
Your faithfulness
extends to every
generation, as enduring
as the earth you created.
Lamentations 3:22-23
The faithful love of the
LORD never ends! His
mercies never cease.
Great is His faithfulness;
His mercies begin afresh
each morning.
1 Corinthian 10:13

… And God is faithful.

1 John 1:9
But if we confess our sins
to Him, He is faithful
and just to forgive us our
sins and to cleanse us
from all wickedness.

13
Then the LORD said to Abram, “You
can be sure that your descendants will
be strangers in a foreign land, where
they will be oppressed as slaves for
400 years. 14 But I will punish the
nation that enslaves them, and in the
end they will come away with great
wealth.”
Exodus 12:41
In fact, it was on the last day
of the 430th year that all the
LORD’s forces left the land.
Isaiah 7:14
All right then, the Lord Himself
will give you the sign. Look! The
virgin will conceive a child! She
will give birth to a son and will
call him Immanuel (which
means ‘God is with us’).
Galatians 4:4
But when the fullness of
time had come, God sent
forth His Son, born of
woman, born under the law.

- Louis Berkhof
• The reason we should
not worry.
• The reason we should
not murmur.
• The reason we have
great confidence.
Psalm 37:3-5
Trust in the Lord, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on
His faithfulness. Delight
yourself also in the Lord, And He
shall give you the desires of your
heart. Commit your way to the
Lord, Trust also in Him, And He
shall bring it to pass.
