TO KNOWLEDGE SHARING SESSION FOR FUEL OIL SYSTEM

HIGH LIGHT POINTS

The following Team Visited to M/s. Faridabad Gas

Power Station (NTPC),Faridabad for Study on Fuel Oil

System and Collected some valuable information from

NTPC.

Mr.A.Srinivas
Mr.D.Nukaraju

Mr.NSKGS. Prasad
Let Us Discuss Briefly about Fuel Oil System in this session

About NTPC Power Station

M/s. NTPC has installed & Commissioned 432 MW CCPP
Faridabad Gas Power Station at Faridabad in 1999. Power Station Configuration is 2X 138 MW Siemens V94.2 Duel Fired Gas Turbine. 2X HP & LP Circuits HRSG. 1 X 156 MW BHEL Make Steam Turbine. M/s.NTPC has been operating the Gas Turbines with

Both Natural Gas and Fuel Oil (HSD/Naphtha) in 100%

NG, 100% Fuel Oil and Mixed Fuel Mode. Fuel oil Consumption is 36KL/Hr/GT at 138 MW load

HIGH LIGHT POINTS

The Fuel Oil Handling System consisting of the following systems for Naphtha and HSD.
Unloading System Storage System Forwarding System Combustion System Fuel and Nox Control System Return and Storage of fuel from the gas turbines (Drainage System) Fire Fighting System

HIGH LIGHT POINTS

To supply the required quantity and quality of Naphtha and HSD to the Fuel Oil Injection Pumps of the Gas Turbines. Naphtha and HSD shall be received to the site through Road Tankers. Separate Fuel Unloading System for Naphtha and HSD are provided. Two numbers Floating roof types tanks are provided for storage of the Naphtha, where as one number Fixed Roof type Tank is provided for Storage of HSD.

HIGH LIGHT POINTS

Supply of Naphtha fuel from the storage tanks to the Gas Turbine through three full capacity centrifugal forwarding pumps and a common supply line
To obtain constant pressure conditions at the Fuel Oil Injection Skid, a pressure sustaining station is provided downstream of the forwarding pumps. Duplex filter is located downstream of the Naphtha forwarding pumps. Return lines from the Gas Turbines are led to the Naphtha Storage Tanks.

HIGH LIGHT POINTS

The Gas Turbine is started with HSD whenever firing with Naphtha is required. HSD is taken from storage tank and led to the gas turbine via the start-up pumps (HSD). The Start-up line is also provided with a duplex filter and a pressure sustaining station. When the Turbines have started, fuel supply is changed to Naphtha. Return fuel is led to the Naphtha storage tanks to avoid contents of Naphtha in the HSD system.

HIGH LIGHT POINTS

Naphtha supply system is to be purged with HSD for safety reasons prior to Maintenance or repair works. The Fuel unloading and forwarding system may be supplied Skid mounted on individual drain tanks . Drains from the pump skids are collected in the drain tanks and can be pumped to the storage tanks through two Centrifugal pumps. Two number sump pumps are to be provided in the Fuel Oil Pump
