Writing a Series of Paragraphs Expressing an Opinion

What Does it Test?

There is only one series of paragraphs task in the OSSLT. It is in booklet 2. It should take you roughly 30 minutes to complete. The purpose of this section is to test:

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.

Your ability to write persuasively Your ability to rank arguments Your ability to build specific examples Your essay writing skills Your ability organize your ideas Your proficiency with writing conventions (spelling/grammar).

Instructions
Decide whether you agree or disagree with the statement. You must choose one side only. Think up reasons why you hold that opinion (at least three!). If possible, use your own personal experiences as proof. In your introductory paragraph, clearly state your opinion. This is your thesis. Write one body paragraph for each reason. In your concluding paragraph, re-state your main argument. Then summarize your sub-arguments.

Also
Attempt to use all of the lines. Use five paragraphs, separated by a blank line. This lets your reader know that you are organized. Check over your work for spelling/grammar mistakes. Correct them by neatly crossing out the error, and writing in your revision either above or below.
