METHODOLOGY
The student assimilated the roles and functions
of a Community Health Nurse (CHN).
General orientation on APBHP.
Consensus was built and agreement on guidelines
was agreed. The agreement contained program
parameters and numerical cut-off points to be used
as indicators of problems.
Minimum health data (morbidity/mortality) statistics,
program performances, socio-economic conditions,
situation of available facilities, client behavior, peace
and order conditions, geographic spread of
catchments, etc) were presented and used as
baseline for worksheets (prescribed matrices).
SUMMARY OF RESULTS
It required consolidations of all prioritized activities,
physical, financial and other resources to achieve targets
and set goals/objectives.
The plan was reviewed and approved in a collaborative
workshop meeting.
During implementation, feedbacks from partner
stakeholders and modification of actions were closely
monitored to carry out the plans.
Participative monitoring and evaluation of programs/
projects were imparted to among partner stakeholders.
Sustainability was assured by building political
partnerships in the forms of agreement (e.g
memorandum of agreement, manifesto of support,
barangay resolutions and endorsement of various
developmental organizations).
IMPLICATION FOR ACTION:
NURSING EDUCATORS.
A major challenge to prepare nursing student for
his/her future role as CHN.
The key of successful transfer of KSJ to the
student depend on the teacher’s ability to
improve the student understanding of concepts
related to PHC.
Since the design (APBHP) is more focus in the
management of DOH programs, it is imperative
that student must internalize the concept then
materialize it in actual setting.
