had a long-standing presence in India
since 1920, in Kolkata and Mumbai. At that
time, the bank mainly worked for diamond
clients.
• The bank took off in a big way in 1991,
after the merger of ABN and AMRO
worldwide. The bank acquired the retail
business of the Bank of America in 1999.
The year 2002 saw the opening of the
Noida office.
