This is the title for our teaser trailer.

To get this type of font we used a software called iPiccy, this is because iPiccy uses more of a different variety of font than Microsoft and Photoshop. The font we chose for our title is called Typewriter. The reason we chose the word Pathogen is because we tried to go for a more of a unique zombie film and also we didnt want to use most common words that an average zombie film would be called. So therefore we thought the word Pathogen which means a virus or a disease would match our theme for the trailer.

The first location we chose to do was a news reporter because usually whenever it comes to a horde of zombies theres always a news reporter reporting these sort of attacks on a thriller film.

The second location was a shot based around London. This is because based on our zombie film usually police are often involved in most thriller films. So we thought that having a police scene in our trailer would make it based more around the thriller theme.

In our teaser trailer there are some costumes and props that match the thriller convention. For example the science equipment we gathered. We used this equipment to show the scientist picking up the cure with his hand.

In this shot here are the survivors with weapons (shovels and rakes) in their hands. Thats what usually youd expect a survivor to be holding. Also the clothes they are wearing look old even though Evans is wearing clothes hed wear out , the other three survivors are wearing the appropriate clothes a survivor should which signifies horror/thriller suspense.

Most of the camera shots are used for may reasons. Some are used to show meaning to the shots and the characters and some are used to show true intentions/expectations. The smiling figure for example, that close up shot of the mouth smiling could leave a mystery to the audience on who the scientist might be. Is he smiling because hes plotting something evil or is he happy? Also the girl hiding under the table shows she could be hiding in fear with footsteps walking due to the shot giving it a bit of a dark atmosphere.

Whenever it comes to making a teaser trailer/movie they always stick to the three part structure. Its basically the beginning, middle and end. The first part of the structure is usually the introduction of the characters and what their role in the film is. In the second part of the structure is when the fast editing begins and most of the interesting accomplishment happens. This is the peak of the trailer. The third part of the structure is the final part. This is when it starts to slow down, this gives the audience time to take in all the information about the film and characters and what the plot is. Also it leaves enigma codes as well, trying to persuade the audience to see the film on the release date.

The captions on our trailer helps the audiences to understand the film trailer a bit more. This is because without the captions giving out clues how else will it persuade the audience to go see the actual film itself. Also the fact that captions are being used gets more of the audiences attention.

There are many things in a teaser trailer that shows its a thriller genre. Although our teaser trailer isnt like those typical thrillers, its more based around a horror-thriller due to it having zombies. The things that show the audience its a thriller is the props, costumes, the characters, equipment and the setting.

The thriller conventions that defines our trailer as a horror-thriller is the weapons for the survivors because usually in some zombie thriller films youd expect the survivors to carry weapons with them. Also the scientist defines a thriller genre because there always tends to be a scientist whenever there is a zombie apocalypse.

Most of the characters, in our trailer are the usual type of characters, youd expect to see in a horror-thriller trailer. For the scientist its typically a male person playing the scientist because whenever scientists are conducting an experiment its usually the male. The four survivors consists of two boys and two girls. Usually the survivors are young people probably in their 20s-40s. This is because usually its a stereotype that young people are fast than the elderly.

We used some different ranges of special effects for our teaser trailer. For the science equipment scene we used an effect like dissolve when the camera panned it dissolved with the camera panning to a different direction. Another effect we used on the DNA opening is a special tool called the paint splatter tool. We used the paint splatter tool because it really looked realistic that it was being eaten by zombies also it matches our genre to the trailer.

Even though the maximum time a teaser trailer has to last is 1 minute, our one went over for 30 seconds extra. This is because we had so many shots that we believed were so good that we couldnt let it go to waste. Most of the soundtracks really match the theme of a horror/thriller genre. This because near the end of the trailer a song called Perfect day plays. It really shows the irony to the audience even though the song is saying what a perfect day, the audience knows its utter chaos due to the shots of zombies and survivors being showed.

Our magazine cover does not have the usual conventions a Sight and Sound magazine should have. This is because we looked at a special edition magazine cover of Sight and Sound that was made for a film called Public Enemies. We wanted the full body of the main character on the front cover as Sight and Sound usually has a close-up of the main character.

We stuck to the main colour scheme that the Sight and Sound magazine cover uses, these colours are red, yellow and white. We also used a variety of fonts associated to what Sight and Sound would regularly use, this whole idea was based on the special edition of the Sight and Sound magazine cover, this was because that special edition magazine cover had different fonts as well. For the cover lines we stuck with a normal font Times New Roman.

Although our magazine seemed a bit different we still used the normal conventions of a magazine cover like the masthead, barcode and date where it would be placed on a original Sight and Sound magazine cover.

We applied our image to what our thriller film would be based on like our magazine cover. We did this by having a shadow effect on our characters face, as well as a black and white background. This has a connection to the horror aspect we wanted with our trailer. The facial expression on the characters shows a more serious appearance, showing some bruises/injuries on their face, which some horror and thriller images tend to have. We also focused on the characters clothing, to do this we made sure they were wearing dark/damp clothes. Applied clothes such as the jacket the character is wearing is typically something that a normal character would be seen wearing within a horror film.

The conventions of a typical thriller teaser poster are shown on our groups teaser poster. The Release date is unknown so it is written as Coming Soon with a website link below where people who are interested would be able to find more information about the actual film itself. The image appeals to the target audience because the colours and the tone of the image shows the visual meanings of a thriller genre. The special effects of the image bring out a severer image than it was initially taken, an example of this can be, the image looked plane when it was taken. This rural effect connotes the thriller genre since it connotes something that is worn and threatening, the complete opposite to if the image what filled with bright colours.

In these images it really shows the teaser poster that connoting a thriller/horror. The fake blood and the dark sky, adds to the detail that the film is a horror-thriller styled film.
