What is Renewable Energy?

Energy generated from natural resources which includes sunlight, geothermal heat, wind, tides, water, and various forms of biomass. This energy cannot be exhausted and is constantly renewed.

Why is renewable energy important?

It is important because of the benefits it provides: 1) Environmental Benefits - Clean sources of energy that have a much lower environmental impact than conventional energy technologies. 2) Energy for our children's children - It will not run out. Other sources of energy are limited and will some day be used up. 3) Jobs and Economy - This means your energy dollars stay home to create jobs and fuel local economies, rather than going overseas.

Disadvantages of Renewable Energy:

Many people question the value for money of renewable energy, or are not convinced renewable energy is completely sustainable. A common disadvantage to all is that it is difficult to produce the large quantities of electricity their counterpart the fossil fuels are able to. Since they are also new technologies, the cost of initiating them is high. Each individual renewable energy source will have its own limitations.

Types of Renewable Energy:

Sunlight Geothermal Heat Wind Tides Hydro Biomass Biofuels

What is Solar Energy?

The radiant energy produced by the Sun. It is both light and heat. Solar energy valuable energy is capable of providing heating, ventilation and fuel alternatives. Sun is an abundant energy resource and most of all it comes with the environment friendly package.

What is Solar Energy?...

A simple example of the power of the sun can be seen by using a magnifying glass to focus the suns rays on a piece of paper. Before long the paper ignites into flames.

How much Solar Energy?

The surface receives about 47% of the total solar energy that reaches the Earth. Only this amount is usable.

For Example:

Do you know any renewable energy in Brunei?

Case Study: Brunei Solar Power

On 26 May 2011, His Majesty consented to officially open the Tenaga Suria Brunei power station, at the site of the old Seria Power Station in Belait District.

Case Study: Brunei Solar Power

Brunei has a solar power experimental power plant capable of producing some 1.344 MW or powering about 200 houses, saving approximately 340,000 liters of crude oil and reducing CO2 emission of approximately 940otCO2 per year. It is a joint project of the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Mitsubishi Corporation.

Conclusion:
There are many advantages to the use of renewable energy sources. There are also some disadvantages. The fact is energy demands will continue to increase. Through research and development, as well as, new technologies, the hope is many of the disadvantages of renewable sources of energy can be eliminated and we can successfully incorporate it into our power supplies.
