their significant childhood experiences, and

Self-esteem is a reflection of womens own self-
image or how they feel about themselves. Their
self-esteem is made up of their thoughts and
their feelings.

Ways of Improving Self-Esteem

1. Friends Women to meet new friends. Be
comfortable and open up to others to develop a closer
relationship.
2.Time Women should take time to be alone once in a
while. Cultivate hobbies that they can enjoy like crafts
and reading.
3. Praise Women should take pride in their small and
big achievements. Praise themselves for being good and
being able to perform well.

Synthesis


A person has an evolving personality and
continuously in a process of becoming. To be a better
person, to be a fulfilled woman, one has to know most
ones strengths and to make ones weaknesses as
steps towards improving oneself.

Many factors affect ones characteristics and these
factors should be strengthened by a person to work
towards developing ones personality.

Synthesis


This will also help women to become more
responsive and productive- nurturing positive traits,
accepting and overcoming childhood experiences,
promoting positive family and personal values and
having clear personal and family goals.

Improving ones esteem and confidence as a person
is a responsibility of every woman.

Development and Nation Building Act of
1992)

This act promotes the integration of women
as full and equal partners of men in
development and nation building and for
other purposes.

Republic Act 8972 (Solo Parents Welfare Act of 2000)

Promote the family as the foundation of the nation,
strengthen its solidarity and ensure its total
development.

Develop a comprehensive program of services for
solo parents and their children to be carried out by
the different line agencies with the DSWD as the
lead agency.

Republic Act 9208 (Anti-Trafficking in Persons
Act of 2003)

This law criminalizes the act of trafficking in
persons especially of women and their
children for prostitution, sexual exploitation
and slavery, among others.

Republic Act 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women
and Their Children Act of 2004)

It seeks to address the prevalence of VAWC, abuse on
women and their children by their partners like husband or ex-
husband, live-in partner or ex-live in partner,
boyfriend/girlfriend of ex-boyfriend/ex-girlfriend, dating partner
or ex-dating partner.

Classifies VAWC as a public crime. It includes, but is not
limited o physical violence, sexual violence, psychological
violence and economic violence.

Republic Act 9710 (Magna Carta of Women, 2009)

It is a comprehensive womens human rights
law that seeks to eliminate discrimination
against women by recognizing, protecting,
fulfilling and promoting the rights of Filipino
women, especially those in the marginalized
sectors.

Republic Act 7877 (The Anti-Sexual Harassment
Act of 1995)

It addresses the issue of sexual harassment
committed in work and education or training
environment.

Republic Act 8353 (Anti-Rape Law of 1997)

The law redefines rape as a crime against
person.
Rape violates a womans well-being and not
just her virginity or purity.
Any woman, whether a prostituted woman,
non-virgin or one who has an active sexual life
may be victimized by rape.

Republic Act 8505 (Rape Victim Assistance and
Protection Act of 1998)

This law provides assistance and protection
for rape victims, establishing for the purpose a
Rape Crisis Center in every province and city.

Republic Act 9775 (Anti-Pornography Act of
2009)
An act that recognizes the fundamental rights of
every child and protect the child from all forms of
exploitation, including but not limited to the use of
child pornographic performances and materials, and
the inducement or coercion of a child to engage in
pornography through any means.

Role It is defined as an ascribed function
assumed by anyone. For women, possible
roles include being a wife, a mother, a
daughter, a sister, a daughter-in-law, a
breadwinner/provider and a community
leader.

Three Categories of Work

1. Reproductive Work

This is the care and maintenance of human
life within the household which includes
childcare, food preparation, collection of water
and firewood, cleaning, washing, building and
maintaining the shelter, and health care.

2. Productive Work

This is the production of goods and
services for income, trade, or subsistence
which include tasks that contribute
economically to the household and to the
community.

3. Community Management and Constituency-
Based Politics

This is the maintenance and improvement of the
community as a whole, which includes planning
celebrations, advocating for community needs such
as access to potable water, judging disputes, building
schools or clinics, and making laws.

The roles of women in the home and in the
community have long been established, and
many of their responsibilities evolved around
performing their reproductive roles. The
challenge is form them to become more active
in performing their other roles particularly
becoming more productive and active in the
community.
