What Does Copyright Protect?
literary works;
musical works;
artistic works;
films;
sound recordings;
broadcasts;
derivative works (Translation, Adaptation, Arrangement, other
Transformation, Collection of work and Collection of mere data); and
others
A work is protected automatically by:
sufficient effort has been expected to make
the work original in character;
the work has been written down, recorded or
reduced to a material form;
the author is qualified person or the work is
made in Malaysia or the works first published
in Malaysia

PROCEDURE FOR VOLUNTARY
NOTIFICATION OF COPYRIGHT
1. a) Notification of copyright by
author/owner/licensee/assignee:

4. Fee is based on the type of notification and size (soft
copy) or quantity (document) of works.

5. Form CR-3 is only applicable if the
author/owner/licensee/assignee appoints a
person to act on behalf of him in filing the
voluntary notification.
6. Once the notification of copyright is recorded in the
register, the controller of copyright will notify the
applicant that the information and the work has
been recorded.
7. Form CR-5 need to be filed if the applicant request
for a certificate of the notification of copyright for
works that has been recorded in the register.
8. Form CR-11 need to be filed if there is any changes
to the information of the work in the register such
as assignment, testamentary disposition or grant of
licence.
6. Payment can be made via Cheque/money
order/bank draft, in the name of
Perbadanan Harta Intelek Malaysia
