Mitigation

Encourage greater participation of
C&H resources into local mitigation
planning

Support local risk assessments of
collections and facilities with first
responders

Preparedness

Facilitate C&H resource managers
participation in local disaster
exercising

Develop more robust programmatic
agreements between State Historic
Preservation Office (SHPO) and FEMA
to ensure quicker recovery of these
resources post disaster

Response

Develop MOUs within CHR
community to provide assistance and
expertise to locally affected resources

Create state mission sets for the
allocation of resources to assist with
the protection and recovery of C&H
resources statewide

Recovery

Ensure damaged facilities and
collections are included in local
damage assessments

The Cultural and Historic Task Force will be the primary
coordination point for Cultural and Historic resource protection
and recovery during disaster events. The Task Force will
coordinate initial response and protection of these sites and
collections during an emergency, working with local
preservationists, state and federal officials, as well as those
coordinating response to the incident, such as the Incident
Management Team.

High Park Fire
Movement of containment line to protect C&H
resources during emergency operations
Waldo Canyon Fire
Determining available resources and sites to assist
with the evacuation of collections
Wetmore Fire
Provided real time location of fire perimeter in
relation to C&H resources, included location
information to damage assessment team

It is the ultimate goal
of the Cultural & Historic
Resources Task Force
to become a fully operational unit,
capable of providing assistance
and expertise during response
and recovery phases
to CHR resources statewide.
