What Servants Do

Aim: To know and

understand what a real
servant does, and how does
he/she do it.
Ministry: Shaped to Serve
Ephesians 2:10
“We are God’s workmanship, created in
Christ Jesus to do good works.”

them.
-No single gift given to
everyone, no individual
receives all the gifts.
-Spiritual gifts were not given
for one’s own benefit but for
the benefit of others.
• We serve God by serving others
-Jesus measured greatness in terms of
service.
“Whoever wants to be great must become a servant”
Mark 10:43

 God determines your greatness by how many

people you serve, not how many people serve you.
Your shape reveals your ministry, but your
servant’s heart will reveal your maturity.
What real servants do
• Real servants maintain a low profile and all of you must
put on the apron of humility, to serve one another; for
the Scripture says,
“God resists the proud but shows favor to the humble.”
I Peter 5:5
• Don’t promote or call attention to themselves.
• Don’t serve for the approval or applause of others. They
live or an audience of One. As Paul said,
“if I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant
of Christ.” Galatians 1:10
• Content with quietly serving in the shadows.
E.g. Joseph
• If recognized for their service, they humbly accept.
Real servants pay attention
Never tell your neighbors to wait until tomorrow if you
can help them now. Proverbs 3:28
Real servants listens to his heart
“A man’s heart reflects the man.” Proverbs 27:19
Real servants make themselves available
No soldier in active service entangles himself in the
affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one
who enlisted him as a soldier. II Timothy 2:4
• Real servants make themselves available to
serve.
• Do what’s needed even when it’s inconvenient.
• Don’t get to peck and choose when or where they
will serve.
• See interruptions as divine appointments for
ministry.
Real servants serve with what they have
“If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get
anything done.” Ecclesiastes 11:4

• Real servants do their best with what they have.

• Don’t make excuses.
• Don’t procrastinate.
• Don’t wait for better circumstances, God expects
you to do what you can with what you have
wherever you are.
Real servants do every task with equal
dedication
“Unless you are faithful in small matters you won’t be
faithful in large ones. If you cheat even a little you
won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.”
Luke 16:10
• Servants do every task with equal dedication.
Whatever they do, servants “do it with all their
heart.” Colossians 3:23
• The size of the task is irrelevant.
• Doing the menial task is a vital part of character
curriculum.
• In small services that servants grow in Christ.
• Great opportunities often disguise themselves in
small task.
• To a real servant there is no difference between
doing small and big tasks.
Real servants finish their task
“Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have
been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will
give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate
together.” Matthew 25:23

• Real servants are faithful to their ministry.

• Can be counted on by others.
• Never retire from serving God as long as their
alive.
“The highest place in the world
is, still down at the Lord’s feet.”
