NOISE POLLUTION & ITS

CONTROL IN CHEMICAL
INDUSTRY

CHMICAL ENGINEERING
Sound becomes noise only it becomes
unwanted and when it becomes more than that
it is referred to as "noise pollution.
Industrial Noise refers to noise that is created
in the factories which is jarring and unbearable.
It has been scientifically proved that noise more
than 85 decibels can cause hearing impairment and
does not meet the standards set for healthy working
environment.

CODE AREA DAY TIME
(db)
NIGHT
TIME (db)
A Industrial 75 70
B Commercial 65 55
C Residential 55 45
D Silence Zone 50 40
1.Day time is reckoned in between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.
2.Night time is reckoned in between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
3.Silence zone is referred as areas upto 100 meters around such
premises as hospitals, educational institutions and courts.
Responsible for high noise
emissions indoors as well
as outdoor of plants.
In industrialized countries
it has been estimated that
15-20 % or more of the
working population is
affected by sound pressure
levels of 75-85 dBA.
EFFECTS OF INDUSTRIAL NOISE
POLLUTION
Increase in blood pressure
Increased stress
Fatigue
Headaches
Sleep disturbance
Annoyance
Speech Problems
Dysgraphia, meaning writing learning
impairment
Aggression
Anxiety
Withdrawal
Sound Enclosures
Sound Barrier Wall
Duct Silencers
Baffles
Duct Lagging

Also known as noise
control enclosures,
acoustic enclosures, sound
booths, steel enclosures, or
machine and equipment
enclosures these self
supporting noise barriers
enclose noisy equipment
without limiting access or
impeding machine
function.
Utilize modular steel
panels

Typically used outdoors
to control
Industrial/Mechanical
noise
Engineered sound barrier
wall panels are
specifically
designed and constructed
with environmentally
durable composite
construction that absorbs
sound energy and blocks
offensive noise.
Openings into or out of
noisy environments are
primary systems for the
application of Industrial
duct silencer.
Allows the air to flow
freely from the necessary
generators without the
addition of any unwanted
sound.
Low cost.
These ceiling or overhead
baffles absorb reflected noise
(sometimes called
reverberated sound)
bouncing off hard flat walls,
floors, or ceilings.
Are an absorptive board
or sound barricade that
can be placed around or
between acoustic sources
to provide sound isolation
or deadening and reduce
acoustic leakage.
A flexible sound reduction
wrap for duct work and
piping.
This loaded vinyl sound
barrier product helps
contain break-out noise
from noisy ducts and
pipes.
Industries are required to know the effect their plant
has on the environment, of which noise is one.
There is a moral issue too it is just plain wrong to
make employees listen to noise while they work. It
upsets them and they work like automata robotlike,
uncaring. Not to be forgotten is the spectre of the day
that an employee takes the employer to court for not
trying engineering means to reduce noise.
