(Data from survey published Feb 2014)

18% of the population have experimented ecigs.
2.6 million regular users (of which 51% are daily users).
560,000 are exclusive users.

Amongst experimenters, 9% say they have never previously smoked.
Amongst regular users, 0% say they have never previously smoked.

Survey conclusion: The e-cigarette seems to represent, at least for the time
being, a way of quitting rather than of starting smoking.

Estimated market size @ Feb 2014: from 100 to 200 million*.
Tobacco sales: 17.8 billion, falling fast: -10.4% May 2014 compared to May
2013**.

Market shares**:
Hardware
58% from specialised high street shops;
21% from tobacconists;
9% from internet.

E-liquids
54% from specialised high street shops;
24% from tobacconists.
Internet sales not known; 12-15% of market?

Only 4% of users buy throwaways.
