from the Internet?

through the publication process. It has been
produced or approved by
A known author
A reputable publishing company
An editor
Fact checkers
A database company
Librarians
In some cases, a PEER REVIEW committee

Evaluating Internet Sources
Internet information should be selected using the same criteria as
Library materials:

Accuracy Is the information truthful and free of errors? Were there
fact-checkers and editors to assure accuracy?
Authority Was the information written by a known expert in the
subject? Does the Website describe the authors job or education?
Objectivity Is the information written without obvious bias? Or is it
written to persuade? Does the author make assumptions that might be
questionable? Does the author have a commercial or political motive?
Coverage Does the information cover all of the topic or just part of the
topic?
Timeliness Is the material current and up-to-date? Is there a date
listed, so that you know when more recent information is needed?
Audience Who was the information written for? Was the information
written for an adult audience?
