Look at these examples
Between 9.00 and 10.00 hours his temperature falls sharply

The normal temperature of a healthy adult ranges from 36C to
37C

Prescribe
When a doctor wants to treat a patient by giving him drugs, he
writes out a prescription. A nurse cannot prescribe drugs, but nurse
gives what the doctor has prescribed to the patient.
The doctor writes on the prescription e.g. 10x50 mg tabs. You say
this as ten fifty milligram tablets.
When you give a dose in tablet form, you make up the weight on
the prescription from the smallest number of tablets possible.
E.g. you must give 1 g of sulfasuxidine. The tablets are labelled 250 mg. how
many tablets must you give?
4 tablets.
Questions
You must give 0,5 mg of aspirin. You have 2x250 mg tablets and
10x50 mg tablets. Which do you give?
You must order medicine for prescription penicillin 20 ml b.d. x 3
days. How many ml of penicillin will you need for the three days?
You must give 20 mg of prednisolone t.d.s. it is available in 10 mg or
5 mg tablets. How many tablets must you give to the patient in one
day?
You must give 5 mg of a drug for every 1 kg of a patients body
weight. How many mg do you give?
A capsule contains 200 mg of a drug. How many gr of the drug are
there in 10 capsules?
You must give one tablet q.d.s how many do you give in three days?
