The King and His Kingdom

Jesus had ONE message:

THE KINGDOM
From that time Jesus began to preach ,and to say,
Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand
(Mt.4:17)
The word repent is metanoeo and literally means to
think differently.
We repent to get forgiven, God says repent to SEE the
kingdom!
Matt.4:18-23
And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw
two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew
his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they
were fishermen. Then He said to them,
Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of
men. They immediately left their nets and
followed Him.
Going on from there, He saw two other
brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John
his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their
father, mending their nets. He called them,
and immediately they left the boat and their
father, and followed Him.
And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in
their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the
kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and
all kinds of disease among the people.
Did you see it?
Jesus calls His disciples to Himself and THEN
goes about teaching and doing signs and
wonders among the people.
It was CONNECTION before CORRECTION!
Correction is how God brings HEAVEN to earth
In order to understand how God gets heaven
to earth you must understand it in the context
of connecting.
In the beginning God wired into our DNA the
DESIRE and CAPACITY to CONNECT.
Gen.2:7-8
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of
the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the
breath of life; and man became a living being.
The Lord God planted a garden eastward in
Eden, and there He put the man whom He had
formed

Gen.2:18;24-25
And the Lord God said, It is not good that man
should be alone; I will make him a helper
comparable to him.
Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother
and be joined to his wife, and they shall become
one flesh. And they were both naked, the man
and his wife, and were not ashamed.

Gen.3:8-10
And they heard the sound of the Lord God
walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and
Adam and his wife hid themselves from the
presence of the Lord God among the trees of the
garden. Then the Lord God called to Adam and
said to him, Where are you? So he said, I
heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid
because I was naked; and I hid myself.

Written into mans whole life is the NEED to
belong.
Sin introduced shame and shame will not allow
connection.
Shame makes us hide, keeps us cloaked in
secrecy, and causes us to walk in blind search for
what we neither understand nor are willing to
embrace.
Jesus came to introduce us to the KING and
His Kingdom. They belong together in
CONNECTION.
What that looks like is what we would call
COMMUNION. You can have church because
a meeting demands no communion, but you
cant have Kingdom without communion.
Experts tell us there are 3 basic needs
inherent in all human nature:
1.The Need to Belong
2. The need for significance
3. The need for security
The primary need is to belong
In a broken nest there are no whole eggs

The central acute sickness of this age is that
people do not belong to anything significant
Jesus came FIRST to invite you to BELONG not
believe.
Then based on that connection you find REAL
significance.
Then comes REAL security based on BELONGING!

Tell me something other than the KINGDOM that
meets mans greatest needs.
We, as the church, must offer the KINGDOM and
its power NOT just church!
All meaning, life, redemption, and fulfillment is
found in the KINGDOM!
Kingdom people are NOT hiding, not ASHAMED,
and not afraid to connect!
