Middle East
They carry with them animals, plants, and
diseases that come from everywhere

Late 1200s Early 1300s
First accounts of death by some unknown disease
start hitting Europe
By 1347, the plague had spread to Constantinople,
the Gate City of Europe
The Disease Cycle
Flea drinks rat blood
that carries the
bacteria.
Fleas gut clogged
with bacteria.
Bacteria
multiply in
fleas gut.
Flea bites human and
regurgitates blood
into human wound.
Human is infected!

Many believe it is the end of the world
