The use of a petal motif on the
circular roof on either side of the
central corridor helps to segregate
and define the new interstate and
local town bus terminal respectively.

The circular roof branches off the central corridor making the
huge complex easy to use for the many local and foreign
passengers. It is important that the passengers do not get lost
and are able to find their bus platforms.

Additional design effort was
concentrated at the waiting areas
for both the interstate coach and
local town buses.

The intention is to shed the c ommon
impression of bus stations which are
stigmatized as polluted and
unpleasant places.

The use of steel and light weight structures also helps to reinforce
the feeling of spaciousness and provides a backdrop to the hustle
and bustle of passengers queuing for tickets and rushing for buses.
The interplay of light and shadow from the circ ular roof fuelled by
the motion of passengers is dramatic, more so aided by the natural
light emanating from the centre courtyard, with hollow-sectioned
steel members branching off from primary columns to meet the
nodal junc tions of the latticed trusses like the branches of a tree.
