INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study
POLYNOMIALS
consist of a finite sum of multiples of a
variable raised to nonnegative exponents
described according to degree
may contain more than one term
Background of the Study
A polynomial equation is when a polynomial
is set equal to another
A polynomial function only involves non-
negative integer powers of x.
Background of the Study
the study focuses on proving a symmetric
polynomial equation with three unknowns.
Browns method constructs monic polynomials
and uses Stirling numbers of the second kind
Browns method may be applicable to the
equation
Objectives of the Study
The study aims to show the equality of,

Specifically, it aims to:
1. solve the equation by using Peter G. Browns method;
2. find another way to solve the equation either
algebraically or by other means; and
3. find the values of x, y and z that will satisfy the
equation.
Significance of the Study

According to Brown, it is a century-old problem
that has not been solved ever since.
Once-intimidating problems can now be solved by
high school students
The study opens more opportunities for once-
esoteric problems to be solved.
Scope and Limitations

The study focuses on proving the equation.
Methods of solving involves only Stirling numbers of
the second kind.
Methods of solving not necessarily applicable to
other similar equations.
METHODOLOGY
Looks at cubic equations with roots a,b,c.
Constructs monic polynomials given roots , , .
Uses Stirling of the second kind
Browns Method
RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS
It is assumed that x + y + z = 0
The equation is equal through Browns
method and algebraically
The values of x, y, and z are all real
numbers, wherein z=-(x+y).
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The equation is equal, proved through Browns
method and algebraic method
Browns method is applicable to the equation
Recommended to solve more similar equations
using the methods in the study.
Find more methods in solving such equations.
