INTRODUCTION
Aloe Vera- a plant with high but still not completely
identified potential
Botanic name- Barbadensis Miller
The extract from the Aloe Vera leaf contains almost 75
nutrients including minerals, amino acids and vitamins
which are very useful for human
health. Thus, the fabric or garment
treated with it provides a rich
cocktail of goodness for the
wearers skin.

ANTI-MICROBIAL FINISH
Destroys the bacteria, fungi and viruses at high
concentrations when they are in direct contact with the
fabric.
It also suppress the bad odour by giving fragrance
(known as Lily of the desert)
Mainly used with Chitosan or Neem.
This finish also helps in protection against insects.

VITAL FINISHES
The best combination: Aloe Vera, Vitamin E and Jojoba
Oil.
The treated fabric protects the skin against premature
ageing.
Provides the fabric with soft and silk-like handle.
Improves the feel and comfort of the garment.
Fast to home laundering at 40 C for 7-10 wash cycles.

ALOE VERA FINISH AS A SOURCE OF ENERGY

This finish provides an extra energy to the patients
who are suffering from
Liver and Pancreas-spleen Meridian Disturbance
Chronic Tired person
Chronic Arthritis
Stimulate Blood Circulation
Reduce the Stress
Protecting & caring human skin
Comfortable feeling
Cooling effect on stressed skin

MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Very good treatment for skin marks and stretch marks.
Reduces pain and swelling.
Significant relief from itching sensation caused by skin
rashes, allergic reactions, insect bites, eczema and
psoriasis.
Give a soothing effect to skin abrasions,
cuts, wounds, painful cold sores etc.
Anti-pruritic and Anti-inflammatory.
Enhances normal cell proliferation of the
wearer thus speeding up the regenerative
phase of the healing process.

MOISTURE REGAIN FINISH

Aloe Vera finish is very nourishing for the body.
It acts as a humidifier and adds moisture to all layers of a
human skin
It helps skin retain moisture preventing it from drying
out and cracking.
Sufferers of Atopic diseases suffer a loss in epidermal
moisture that can be as low as 20% of the value of a
healthy person. The fabrics treated with Aloe Vera are
very beneficial for them.
It gives a cool and soothing effect to the wearer.

TEST FOR ANTI-MICROBIAL ACTIVITY

AACTCC-100-1998: Anti-bacterial activity
Treat the fabric with Aloe Vera extract (75%-100% concentration).
Prepare 500ml Elenmeyer conical flask containing 50ml of nutrient
broth and sterilize it at 1210C for 15 minutes. Then allow it to cool.
Transfer the fabric aseptically into the conical flask. Then incubate
at 370C for 24 hours in shaker at 121rpm. After incubation
measure its absorbance at 600nm.
AATCC-30-1993: Anti-fungal activity
Prepare 500ml Elenmeyer conical flask containing 50ml of PD
broth and sterilize it at 1210C for 15 minutes. Then allow it to cool.
Transfer the fabric aseptically into the conical flask. Keep it at
room temperature for 3 days. Then observe the growth of fungi in
the conical flask after 3 days.

MOISTURE- REGAIN TEST METHOD

Take a know weight of fabric and place the fabric in a
completely dry atmosphere at 105 degree C for 45
minutes. Immediately upon removal of the fabric from
the oven place it into a dessicator for 1 hour. Take the
fabric straight from the dessicator and place it in normal
atmosphere and re-way the sample after 2 hours and 5
hours. The increase in weight is due to absorbed
moisture and can be calculated using the following
equation.
% Moisture Regain =
[(End Weight - Start Weight)/Start Weight]X 100

DURABILITY TEST

Analyzed by Digi- Wash Tester

Prepare the soap solution by taking the following materialsStandard soap (powder form) - 4 gm/l
Sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) - 2gm/l
Mix it with water by taking the M:L ratio 1:20. A homogeneous
soap solution is obtained by stirring the solution for few minutes.
The fabric and soap solutions are taken together in the steel cups
of the 'Digi-wash' tester. The cups are fastened inside the
instrument and the lid is closed. The time is set at 10 minutes and
temperature of 400 C. After the completion of washing, wash the
samples, dry and again subject to a desire number of washing
cycles (5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 cycles) in a similar way explained
above. The fabric is then subjected to microbial agar and the
bacterial growth is analyzed by serial dilution carried out after
incubation.

Washing Fastness Test: The washing fastness test is based

on AATCC 61-2A. A specimen fabric in contact with pieces
of adjacent fabrics is mechanically agitated in detergent
solution, rinsed and dried. The change in color of the
specimen fabric and the staining of adjacent fabrics are
assed with the standard grey scale.
Light Fastness Test: A specimen fabric is exposed to the
light from xenon arc lamp of correlated color
temperature of 5500 C to 6500 C. The fastness is
assessed by comparing the fading of the specimen with
that of standards.
Laundering Durability Test: ISO-105-C06:1987- Tested by
using a detergent solution at 35 minutes at 40 degree C.
Samples are rinsed with abundant water and air dried.
