DEFINISI
MANAJEMEN & MANAJEMEN PENDIDIKAN
Management is the process of coordinating the
resources of an organization so as to achieve the
primary goals of the organization (Pride, Hughes and
Kapoor, 1988).

FUNCTIONS OF MANAGEMENT
Goal setting and planning,
Organizing,
Leading and motivating employees, and
Controlling ongoing activities.
GOAL SETTING
Goal is an end state that the organization
is expected to achieve.
Goal setting is developing a set of goals.
There are 3 types of goals: purpose,
mission and objectives.
PURPOSE
Purpose is the reason for the organizations existence.
For examples:
Texacos purpose is to earn profits for its owners.
MISSION
The organizations MISSION is the means by which it is to
fulfill its purpose.
For examples:
Apple Computer attempd to fulfill is purpose by
manufacturing computers.
Ford Motor Company fulfill its purpose (making a profit) by
manufacturing cars.
OBJECTIVES
Objectives are specific statements detailing what the
organization intends to acomplish as it goes about its mission.
For examples:
For McDonald, one objective might be that all customers will be
served within two minutes of their arrival.
For IBM, one objective might be that the delivery time for home
computers will be reduced by two weeks next year.
PLANNING
A plan is an outline of the actions by
which the organization intends to
accomplish its goals.
ORGANIZING
CONTROLLING
ONGOING ACTIVITIES
Controlling is the
process of evaluating
and regulatingongoing
activitiesn to ensure
that goals are achieved.
2. Measuring actual
performance and
comparing it with the
standard.
1. Setting standards, to
which performence can
be compared.
3. Taking corrective
actions as necessary.
