Origin: Eastern Romania Moldova Region
Also known in Europe as Schwarze Madchentraube
Considered by many specialist to be the Romanian
equivalent of Cabernet Sauvignon
Variety shows great versatility and produces a wide
range of good quality wines
Drawbacks:
Not very easy to grow (susceptible
to mildew and botrytis
Inconsistent crop yields in the 3rd &
4th years

High resistance to cold winters,

but susceptible to the drought
seasons
