Electric cars

About
Electric cars are electric propelled
vehicles
Electric motors give electric cars
instant torque, creating strong and
smooth acceleration
Electric motors provide a clean and
safe alternative to the internal
combustion engine

How electric motors work?

Electric motor uses electrical
energy stored in battery systems
Controller is transmiting electrical
current to AC motor
Power and torque on axle are
proportional to thrust amount
given by driver

adoption of new electric vehicles

Benefits of electric cars

Significant reduction of local air pollution
Large reduction in total greenhouse gas and
other emissions
Less dependence on foreign oil
Quiet and quick, smooth acceleration

Disadvantages of electric cars

Higher cost

Lack of recharging infrastructure (other than home charging)

Range anxiety

Higher price

Lack of consumer choice (small selection of models)

As of November 2014, the number of mass production highway-capable

all-electric passenger cars and utility vans available in the market is
limited to over 30 models, mainly in the United States, Japan, Western
European countries and China

Pure electric car sales in 2012 were led by Japan with a 28%market
shareof global sales, followed by the United States with a 26% share,
China with 16%, France with 11%, and Norway with 7%

The world's top selling highway-capable electric car ever is theNissan

Leaf, released in December 2010 and sold in 35 countries, with global
sales of over 150,000 units by November 2014

Rimac Automobili

Rimac Automobili is a Croatian company that develops and produces

high-performance electric vehicles.

Rimac Automobili's first model, the Concept One, is known as the

world's fastest production electric vehicle.

While Rimac sells high-performance vehicles under their own brand, the
company develops and produces drivetrain systems and full vehicles for
other companies.

History

Rimac Automobili, an automobile manufacturing company established in

2009 in Zagreb, Croatia, grew out of its founder Mate Rimac's garage
hobby.

The company's primary objective was to build an electric supercar

Since electric systems for high-performance electric cars were not

available on the market, the company developed the necessary parts
and patented 24 innovations.

Concept One

The Rimac Concept One is a two-seat high-performance electric sport

car designed and manufactured by Rimac Automobili.

total output of 1,088hp, an acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in 2.8

seconds,

price is US$980,000,

Concept One has been described as the world's first electric supercar
and the world's fastest accelerating electric automobile as of 2013

between January 2013 and October 2014, eight cars have been
manufactured and sold.

System function

All Wheel Torque Vectoring System (RAWTV)- distributes the power to

each single wheel in every situation based on various input factors.

MC-400-PM Motor Controller - The extremely high power goals could only
be achieved with very high voltages (up to 700V) which narrowed the
choice of available components since most EVs and Hybrids run on
voltages up to 450V.

Battery Pack - Rimac Automobili had to find a way to get as much power
and energy as possible and still keep the package small, light and
efficient. The battery-module architecture has evolved during the
development through many evolutions stages and redesigns.

Power Distribution Unit (PDU)- The Rimac Automobili PDU manages

many tasks simultaneously - It avoids a mess with dozens of thick highvoltage wires, it measures the power delivered to each system,
calculates the overall energy consumed/charged and many other things.
