BACKGROUND
The airline industry in Southeast Asia growing
rapidly as a result of economic growth (up 5.7 %)
that created the welfare society of more than 350
million people.
The airlines in this are currently serve nearly 30
million passengers annually.
This amount will increase each year following the
high-growth
public
welfare
and
aviation
infrastructure development. Especially in new areas
Muslim-Majority

Indonesia,
Malaysia,

Aceh province now has an international
airport which is the International Airport
of Sultan Iskandar Muda (SIM) (IATA: BTJ
ICAO: WITT) located approximately 15 miles
from the center of Banda Aceh. Previous
name known as: Blang Bintang Airport.
Located in the subdistrict of Blang Bintang,
Aceh Besar, Aceh province. This service is
managed by PT. Angkasa Pura II, to serve
the domestic and international routes.

FUTURE DEVELOPMENT
The International Airport of
Sultan Iskandar Muda (SIM) now is
able to be landed by any wide-bodied
aircraft
type
including
Boeing
aircraft. That is because both the
runway and the altar are very wide.

other infrastructure are also very
supportive

an
International

Airport of Sultan Iskandar Muda (SIM) are including;
Garuda Indonesia, Sriwijaya Air, Air Asia and Lion Air. Many
foreign tourists who wanted to visit Banda Aceh had to land
at The International Airport of Sultan Iskandar Muda
(SIM) because it's the only airport that connected directly
to the capital of Banda Aceh.
To support the development of The International Airport
of Sultan Iskandar Muda (SIM) into an international
airport as a transit center of the low-cost flight operations
at the South East Asia is very possible. Its because The
International Airport of Sultan Iskandar Muda (SIM)
service is currently able to accommodate more than 20
aircraft with a runway length of 2500 m which supports
landing large aircraft such as the Boeing 777 and others.
There are still a lot of vacant lands around the airport
which can be used for warehouse, office, duty free mall
complex, hotel or even a property.

encourage the welfare of Aceh community.

Moreover, historically, Aceh is also


known by Muslims as Serambi
Mekkah. With this title,
hopefully Aceh will become the
main attraction for Muslim people
to do The Religious tourism visit.
Given that in Banda Aceh, there

Nusantaras Great Islamic Scholars.
