INTRODUCTION

Swachh Bharat is also called as the Clean


India Mission
It is a national level campaign run by the
Indian Government to cover all the
backward statutory towns to make them
clean.
This campaign was officially launched by
the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on 2nd
October 2014.
It is a politics free campaign and inspired by
the patriotism.

It

was launched especially on the birth


anniversary of the Mahatma Gandhi as he
was dreamed and very keen to make this
country a clean country.

Mahatma Gandhi says-sanitation is most


important than Independence.

IS IT NECESSARY?

According to the United Nations, around half


of the Indias population defecate in open
putting people at risk of cholera, diarrhoea,
dysentery, hepatitis A and typhoid etc.

According to the World Health Organization,


an average of Rs. 6,500 per person is lost in
India due to lack of cleanliness and hygiene.

The World Bank in 2006 estimated that India


was losing 6.4 percent of gross domestic
product annually because of poor sanitation.

Open defecation is a leading cause of


diarrheal death among children. Diarrhea is
the third largest killer of children under five,
in Sub-Saharan Africa.

AIMS OF MISSION

This campaign involves promoting


sanitation programmers in the rural areas,
cleaning streets, roads and changing the
infrastructure of the country to lead the
country ahead.
Create awareness and train the people
about hygiene and sanitation in relation to
public health
Recycling of solid and liquid wastes
creating user friendly environment
Safe and adequate drinking water supply

Construction of toilets around the corners of


less developed villages
Adoption of village by sport stars, business
men and politicians for the better
development of the village.
To prevent people from open defecation.
Prevention of pollution from the water
sources.
100% collection of waste.

cleanliness is godliness. For a healthy
society we require healthy people. The habit
of cleanliness will make a healthy nation.
