Estar with prepositions

Estar with prepositions
• Use estar with some prepositions
to say where something/someone is
is relation something/something
else.
Prepositions
• detrás de behind
• cerca de close to, near
• debajo de underneath
• al lado de next to
• delante de in front of
• lejos de far from
• encima de on top of, above
Estar with prepositions
– Nada es fácil.
– Nothing is easy.
Negation with
nunca, tampoco, nadie, and nada
• Nada = not anything or nothing when it
goes after the verb
• When nada comes after the verb, a no must
be placed in front of the verb.
To say:
– what you have to do
– what your duties are
– or whose turn it is to do something
Use the verb tocar with an infinitive
Tocar often is used like gustar.

te toca(n)
le toca(n) les toca(n)
A ti te toca sacar la basura hoy.
It’s your turn to take out the trash today.

• This verb is used a lot to ask for and give
opinions.
Parecer

Me parece injusto.
It seems unfair to me.
