RCB-RNC control plane processing board

RCB falls into the following two types:

1.When RCB serves as RCP (RNC Control plane Processor), it

processes the control plane signaling, No. 7 signaling, and GPS
positioning that correspond to Iu, Iub, Iur, and Uu interfaces.

2. When RCB serves as RSP (RNC Signaling Processor), it

processes the IP signaling protocol on Iu, Iub and Uu interfaces.

RUB-RNC user plane processing board

RUB falls into the following two types:
1.RUB (VTCD physical board):
The backplane user plane port supports one FE interface.
This type of RUB provides an array consisting of fourteen DSP,
performing the user plane protocol processing.
2. RUB (VTCD/2 physical board):
The backplane user plane port supports one FE interface and one GE
interface.
This type of RUB supports three subcards. Each subcard provides
an array consisting of five DSP, performing the user plane protocol
processing.

THUB-RNC trunk interconnecting board

The FE ports of RCHB1 and RCHB2
grouped even and odd ports.
B1/B1/B2/B2 in one group.
B7/B7/B8/B8 in one group.
One group must connect the FE3-FE6
ports of RGUIM1/RGUIM2 in BGSN or
FE7-FE10 ports of RUIM2/RUIM3 in
control shelf or switch shelf.
The FE port FE45 and FE46 of RCHB
are forbidden to use.

APBE-RNC ATM processing board

APBE falls into the following two
types:
APBE (APBE physical board)
APBE (with APBE/2 physical board)

APBE provides three optical interfaces

APBE/2 provides four optical interfaces.

ICMG-RNC integrated clock module (GPS)

RCKG-RNC clock rear board

There is identification, such as Port1 and Port2, on one

end of each DB9.
Port1 and Port2 must be connected to the UIM of the
same shelf. Port3 and Port4, as well as Port5 and Port6,
are used in pairs.

GUIM-RNC Gigabit universal interface module

Providing circuit switching for the resource shelf and the

switching HUB, falling into the control plane and the user
plane.
Providing the clock drive on the resource shelf.

GIPI/GIPI3/GIPI4-Gigabit Ethernet IP interface

RNC/NM Software Overview

ZXWR RNC software consists of ZXWR RNC software, OMM

and EMS software.
RNC software runs on the boards of ZXWR RNC
NM OMM system is in the server/client structure.
EMS locates between OMM and NMS.
ZXWR RNC (through the SBCX board) connects with OMM
through TCP/IP, OMM connects with EMS through TCP/IP.

The RNC can connect and switch with IP backbone network through the interface
shelf. If the IP backbone network provides high-rate GE interfaces, direct access to
the RNC resource shelf is also acceptable. Choose suitable access mode according
to the application.

Hybrid Networking and Transmission Mode

Depending on different sites, use IP network in some sites and use the traditional SDH
transmission in other sites. Depending on different services, use SDH network with the
ciruit service and use IP backbone network with packet service.

Networking Solutions for Iub Interface

In terms of the Iub interface networking topology.
ZXWR RNC supports:

Star networking mode

Chain networking mode
Ring networking mode (transmission network support
required)
Hybrid networking mode

Star Networking

In the star networking mode, ZXWR RNC directly connects with each
Node B, all of which are terminal equipment.
This networking mode is simple and easy to maintenance and
construction, with fewer intermediate links along the signal path and
higher reliability. Generally, it is used in urban areas with large
population.

Chain Networking

In the chain networking mode, signals pass more links, so the ling
reliability is poorer.
The chain networking mode is suitable for zonal sparsely-populated areas,
where it can save much transmission equipment. This mode is also
applicable to one site with multiple Node Bs.
In actual engineering networking, the chain networking is different from
the basic networking in the fact that transmission equipment is generally
used between ZXWR RNC and Node B as intermediate connection
because the sites are always dispersive. The commonly used
transmission media include microwave, optical cable, HDSL and coaxial
cable.

Ring Networking

The ring networking mode has two links that serve as standby
link for each other. Each node in the ring has two upper-level
nodes that ensure higher link reliability.
If one site is damaged or one link fails, the lower-level nodes can
select the other link as the active one.

Networking Solutions for Iu Interface

The Iu interface is the interface between RNC and MSC, SGSN,

and MGW, and supports the ATM protocol and the IP protocol. By
using the MSTP technology, the Iu interface can form an ATM VPRing with convergence and statistical multiplexing functions for
high-efficiency service transmission from RNC to MSC and SGSN.
