ROMB : RNC Operation & Mentanence Board
Responsible for global process handling of RNC.
Responsible for O&M proxy of whole RNC.
Managing states of each board, collecting information about each
board, and maintaining global static data of whole RNC.
Running RPU module to process routing protocol.
Access unit
DTB : Digital Trunk Board
DTB is used to provide E1 interface, and it also supports T1
interface by changing configuration. One of the DTB board
provides 32*E1.
Access unit
APBE : ATM Process Board Enhanced
Providing ATM interface of 4STM-1;
Supporting 622M switching capacity and completing AAL2
and AAL5 termination of STM-1 physical interface in RNC;
GIPI : GE IP Interface
GIPI provides FE, and GE interfaces and accomplishing IP interface function.
1*GE optical or electrical interface or
4*100M FE electrical interface
Access Unit
EIPI : E1 IP Interface
EIPI provides the IP access based on E1 (working with DTB
and SDTB). EIPI do not have the external interfaces itself.
One EIPI and two DTB work together, providing at most sixtyfour E1 interfaces.
One EIPI and one SDTB work together, providing one STM-1
interface.

RNC
The RNC can connect and switch with IP backbone network through the interface
shelf. If the IP backbone network provides high-rate GE interfaces, direct access to
the RNC resource shelf is also acceptable. Choose suitable access mode according
to the application.
Depending on different sites, use IP network in some sites and use the traditional SDH
transmission in other sites. Depending on different services, use SDH network with the
ciruit service and use IP backbone network with packet service.
Star Networking
In the star networking mode, ZXWR RNC directly connects with each
Node B, all of which are terminal equipment.
This networking mode is simple and easy to maintenance and
construction, with fewer intermediate links along the signal path and
higher reliability. Generally, it is used in urban areas with large
population.
Chain Networking
In the chain networking mode, signals pass more links, so the ling
reliability is poorer.
The chain networking mode is suitable for zonal sparsely-populated areas,
where it can save much transmission equipment. This mode is also
applicable to one site with multiple Node Bs.
In actual engineering networking, the chain networking is different from
the basic networking in the fact that transmission equipment is generally
used between ZXWR RNC and Node B as intermediate connection
because the sites are always dispersive. The commonly used
transmission media include microwave, optical cable, HDSL and coaxial
cable.
Ring Networking
The ring networking mode has two links that serve as standby
link for each other. Each node in the ring has two upper-level
nodes that ensure higher link reliability.
If one site is damaged or one link fails, the lower-level nodes can
select the other link as the active one.
