BEAMING OF JUTE YARNS

WHAT IS BEAMING?

 Two sets of yarns ,namely warp and

weft yarns are necessary for making a
cloth.Both the yarns needs specific
preparation before those are placed in a
loom for weaving.
 Desired length of warp yarns (from
spools/cones)in specified numbers are
wound on a beam tube ,this process is
known as BEAMING.
OBJECTIVES
 To produce a sheet of warp yarns from
large no of individual spools /coons
according to the no of runners required
in cloth.
 To coat the warp yarns with size paste
to improve weavability of warp yarns.
IMPORTANCES
 Ithelps to produce long length of warp
sheet i.e required for weaving.
 Application of size paste on jute warp
yarns helps to withstand abrasion
,stress-strain developed during
weaving, lays down the surface hair of
warp yarns,results lower warp
breakages.lower wastage ,higher
weaving efficiency,better fabric quality
etc.

SOME IMPORTANT MACHINE AND
PROCESS PARAMETERS
 Conventional Jute sizing/beaming machine
 - Cylinders(3 or 6) are steam heated for
drying of warp yarns.
 - Steam pressure in cylinders is 25-35
P.S.I.
 -No of cylinders is 3 to 6.
 -Beaming speed is 20-30 yds/min.
 Laid length is 100-150 yds.
PRPDUCTION CALCULATION
 Production of 11*12-44” FGJP (warp count 10 lb/spy)
 Surface speed of strach roller 20yds/min.
 No of warp yarns 526.
 Size take up % =2
 Efficiency 70%

COMMON SIZING
PARAMETERS
1.Viscosity of size

b.sow box 180-200.

2.Solid content % 1.8-2.2

3.Temperature of sow 60-65.

MAJOR CHECK POINTS FOR
PROCESS CONTROL.
 Uniform winding throughout the width of
the beam.
 Proper drying of warp
 Proper steam pressure & cylinder surface
temperature.
 Proper viscosity of the size paste.
 Proper application & temperature of size
paste.
 Proper squeezing
 No of slack ,crossed & missing ends.
WHAT IS PRE –BEAMING?
 For broad looms where the no of warp
threads in the warp exceeds the normal
capacity of the creel bank ,it is necessary
to run the yarns in warping machine
,popularly known as pre-beaming machine.
 The beam produced in the pre-beaming
may contain ½,1/3,1/4 of the total threads
required.Such beams are then placed in
the frames of the sizing and beaming
machine for producing the final sized
beam.
WASTES AND THEIR
CONTROL
 There are three types of wastes in
beaming department ….
 1.wastage of yarns.
 Control:
 Spool.wastage of change after complete
empty of running spools.
 Increasing content of spools.
WASTES AND THEIR
CONTROL
2 wastage of size paste.
 Control:
 Paste must not over flow, leak from sow
box.
 Condition of sow box should be
checked.
 No leakage in pipe lines from storage
tank to sow box should be checked
WASTES AND THEIR
CONTROL
 3.Wastage of steam.
 Control:
 Proper maintenance of steam pipes and
their joints should be carefully checked.
 Stopping steam flow when machine is
idle.
 Maintaining proper steam pressure.
GENERAL JOB OF A BEAM
OPERATER
 1.To supply good empty beam & mount it
properly on the machine.
 2.To unload full beam and placed it on a
cart for caring the same to weaving or for
storage.
 3.proper threading ,checking of different
process parameters.
 4.periodically clean the sow box
,cylinders,second guide reed and lubricate
properly etc.
