Introduction
The PSP (Professional Sex Provider) or
walkers are the new trend of prostitution
nowadays. They are going to conduct their
transactions using the internet, specifically
the Facebook.
There are so many issues and debates
regarding prostitution on the present day
situation. There are some sectors would
say that it should be stop because it
exploited women and violate their rights.

 Several technological advances have

always tried the minds of men. But one
thing is for sure, technology has always
been there to help us in our everyday
situations.
There are several ways to
communicate with our friends and family
today.
Technology has become a defining force in
our lives, and its relevance is spreading to
virtually every field in one way or another.

 Since the creation of social

networking sites such as MySpace,
LinkedIn, and Facebook, individuals
are given opportunities to meet new
people and friends in their own and
also in the other diverse
communities across the world.

Statement of the
Problem

On this study, there is a rising

interest that with the use of the
technological advances we had on
our present day conditions, such as
internet, computers and cellophane,
these technologies can be for
prostitution in the guise of Facebook
or other social networking sites.

 Language is the method of human

communication and is an integral
part of culture and society. It is a
complex and open system that
allows for innovation, modification
and evolution. It can be transmitted
several ways: orally, kinetically and
graphically.

 Can technology and language be

combined to have the transaction of
prostitutions?

Significance of the study

The coverage of this study is limited
only within Cebu city.
Since prostitution is illegal under the
Philippine law or a taboo, the
prostituted women and the clients
will find ways in order to have such
transactions to be discreet.

 This paper is an attempt to understand

and explain the forms of communication
between the prostituted men and
women with their clients.
This is an opportunity to understand the
terms and words they used as a coding
system
in
order
to
make
the
transactions so discreet that an outsider
cannot
understand
their
communications.

Methodology
The researcher must explore the
Facebook group among this
prostituted women and their clientele.
The researcher must personally
interview key informants: the pimp or
handler, the prostituted women, and
the client.

 The researcher must understand the

meaning or must decode the form of
communication and used them in
making communications among the
prostituted women. There must be
in-depth interviews with the client,
prostituted women, and the pimp or
handler.

Profiles of the
informants
Leah is a Walker or PSP at the same
time handler.
Shes 23 years of age and a college
graduate.
A single mom and formerly she worked at
the main office of a jewellery company as
an internal auditor of the office.
She started to be a walker when she was
still eighteen years of age.

 Jade is a 20 years of age and a student

of one of the universities in Cebu.
She joined the world of prostitution when
she was still seventeen years of age.
According to her she was depressed at
the time because her boyfriend broke up
with her.
She was so depressed and she used to
hang out at the Club Pump at the Grand
Convention Centre.

 Chito is 37 years of age and a medical

representative.
He was a GM on the PSP world. You will
only be considered as GM if you are
legitimate customer and a sure taker.
If you have acquired the status of a GM
you will no longer be screen by the
handler and you will be provided with
all the information you need.

Gentlemans Agreement
The Walkers or PSP are not just
going to make transactions or sell
themselves anywhere.
There is a certain group page on the
Facebook that they are going to join
and must be accepted on the group
page in order to have or to conduct
legitimate transactions.

 The Walkers or PSP or any of its

members are not allowed to divulge
or to leak any information regarding
the privacy of their clients.
The GMs or the clients respect the
same.

 The experienced was so discreet and

you will not be worried that you
might be caught.
The handler or the walkers will wait
for you to contact them first.
According to him, they will not
initiate or bother you for walk. I

 Any violations of the agreement will

cancel the transactions and the
offender will be block from the page.
Worse it will be announced and
posted on the wall of the Facebook
and the whole world will know what
you did.

How do they make the

transactions?
The Walkers or PSP and the GMs or
clients must be both members of the
group.
According to Leah, a handler and at
the same time a walker, the primary
purpose of having a facebook group
is for the PSP is to have discreet
transactions.

 It is the responsibility of the handler

to make sure that the walkers are
with the safe and good customers.
Leah will get the necessary
information such as cell phone
numbers, company that the GM is
currently working, and pictures.

 In making the transactions, the GM

must use the abbreviations and the
terms in communicating the handler
or walker.
The GMs must follow the format of
texting the handler.

 The primary aim of this PSP or walker is

to protect the handlers from the hands
of the law and to protect also the
walkers from the abused of the
customers.

Unlike
other
prostitutions,
the
prostitutes cannot choose a customer. If
the customer chooses the prostitutes,
the pimp will just pick you up and
handed the prostitutes to the client.

Are the PSP or walkers

exploited?

Leah and Jade admitted that it is not one

hundred per cent sure and safe. There
are personal service providers (PSPs)
that are abused. They may have abusive
handlers or they are compelled to
perform whatever abusive acts their
customers require. Then there is human
trafficking, where unsuspecting females
are lured or tricked into a life of sex
slavery.

 However, not all escorts live such

anoppressive life.There are those who
are
your
girl-next-door
types,
women whom you would not suspect
are in the trade.
Though they admit that theirs is a
situation they would rather not be in,
they do not project themselves as
dismal derelicts.
