The biography of Al
Mawardi

Abu al-Hasan Ali Ibn Muhammad Ibn

Habib al-Mawardi was born at Basrah in
972 A.D
Educated at-first in Basrah.Continue in
learned Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) from
the jurist Abu al-Wahid al-Simari.
Went to Baghdad for advanced studies
under Sheikh Abd al-Hamid and Abdallah alBaqi.
His proficiency in jurisprudence Ethics,
Political science and literature proved useful

 Appointed as Qadi (Judge) in first then

became Chief Justice at Baghdad.
His contribution in political science and
sociology
comprises
a
number
of
monumental books, the most famous of
which are Kitab al-Ahkam al-Sultania,
Qanun al-Wazarah, wrote Kitab Aadab
al-Dunya wa al-Din and Kitab Nasihat
al-Mulk.

The Doctrine of
Necessity

The real motive of the institution is to follow

the straight path and to strengthen the
political bonds.
The concept of political legitimacy was
based on the fact that an individual does not
have any natural rights and responsibilities
conditioned by the relations of civil society.
The basic principles of Islamic political
theory are connected to the idea of the
inseparability of religion from politics, law,
and morals.

theories have some similarities and
differences.
