Background &Purpose

Inflammation is a normal protective

response to tissue injury caused by
physical trauma, damaging chemicals or
substances microbiology

NSAID have been used as anti-inflammatory

therapy but have side effect like gastrointestinal
distrubances so natural anti-inflammatory is
needed.

Cashew leaves (Anacardium

occidentale L.) has nature
substances which have antiinflammatory characteristic
like tanin, flavonoid,
anakardiol acid , elagic acid,
fenol, kardol, methyl kardol,
and salisilic acid.

Determine the effect of anti

inflammation ethyl acetate extract of
cashew leaves (Anacardium occidentale
L.) on edema in hind paw of Wistar male
rats compared with natrium diclofenac

Methods of Research
This research was a
laboratory design using
experimental method.
Thirty male white rats (23 month) of 100-200 gr
were used in this study
and divided into 6 groups
(5 rats each).

Male White Rats

Male white rats were fasted for 18

hours and still be drinking

Group I
(aq.dest)

Group II
(Na
diclofena
c)

Group III
(EAE I
450
mg/kg
BW)

Group IV
(EAE II
900
mg/kg
BW)

Group V
(EAE III
1,8 g/kg
BW)

Measuring first volume of the hind

paw rats
The induction of inflammation was done by
injecting 0,5% carrageenan into the rats paw
Measuring hind paw volume every 30
minutes until 300 minutes
The data will be analyzed with statistically by
ANOVA test and DAI test
Conclusion

Group VI
(EAE II +
Na
diclofena
c)

RESULT OF
THE
RESEARCH

The doses of ethyl acetate extract of cashew leaves

have an antiinflammatory effect on hind paw the male
white rats.

The
combination
doses
(group
VI)
have
the
antiinflammatory effects are smaller when compard to the
ethyl acetate extract of cashew leaves with doses 450
mg/kgBW and 900 mg/kgBW.

The 1st and 2nd result are still lower

than natrium diclofenac as a NSAID.
