Literature Review

Consumer awareness

According to Birch and Young (1997) analyzed the consumer side

for e-banking and the results showed that consumers basically
seek for transactional efficiency, choice for core and non-core
banking products and access to competitive prices and returns.

Jeevan (2000) observed that the internet banking enables banks to

offer low cost and high value added financial services. US webcorporation argues that finally banks are finding that a
comprehensive online banking strategy is indispensable for
success in the increasingly competitive financial services market.

Cont

In the world of banking, the development of E-Banking has an

enormous effect on development of more flexible payment
methods and more user friendly banking services.

Recently, the banking industry was highly affected by the

technology evolution that transformed the way banks deliver
their services, using technologies such as automated teller
machines, phones, the Internet, credit cards, and electronic
cash. In line with global trends, electronic banking in Pakistan
has been undergoing many changes.

Findings

Some of demographic factors(age and qualification) have

impacts on popularity of e-banking.

It has been observed that only professionals and highly

educated and businessman are using channels of e-banking.

There is a difference between the awareness and use of the

e- banking channel of the bank. The customers are aware
with the different e- banking channel but they have not use
the particular e-banking channel of the bank.

Most of respondent who are using the e-banking channel are

agree with the safety and security of e-banking channel.
13

Conclusion
There

is still a lot for the banking system to make

reforms and train their customers for using
electronic channel for banking account.
Time is changing and we have passage of time
people are accepting technology but there is still a
lot of perceptual blocking which hampers the
growth. Its the normal tendency of a human not to
have changes and work on the old track, thats also
one of reasons for the slow acceptance of Ebanking.

14

Recommendations
Promotion

for E-banking will help in making

customer more aware about E-banking. It can be
done individually (for only Sarvodaya bank) as well
collectively (for all banks of Surat city by
Association of bank).

Some

of them argue that

E-banking has
complicated process and it is also not safe for this
providing them that details to be required and
provide their transaction safe and secure
