5 Basic Elements:

used at another time.
4. Retrieve - a computer must be able to retrieve the
information that it has stored.
5. Process a computer must be able to process information.

What is data?

Data is raw, unprocessed facts. It has the potential


to become useful information, but first it has to be
manipulated and transformed.

Information is processed data. It is data that has


already been manipulated and transformed into
something useful.

4 Basic Functions:
1. Input The procedure of feeding data into a computer.
2. Process is the operation of manipulating and transforming
data into something useful.
3. Output is the result of the processing function.
4. Storage computer can save data so that it can be used at
another time.
