Definition
The immune system is the body's defense against
infectious organisms and other invaders. Through a
series of steps called the immune response, the immune
system attacks organisms and substances that invade
body systems and cause disease. The immune system is
made up of a network of cells, tissues, and organs that
work together to protect the body. The cells involved are
white blood cells, or leukocytes, which come in two basic
types that combine to seek out and destroy diseasecausing organisms or substances.Leukocytes are
produced or stored in many locations in the body,
including the thymus, spleen, and bone marrow.

How to Improve The Immune

Body
1. Adopt healthy-living strategies

Your first line of defense is to choose a

healthy lifestyle. Following general goodhealth guidelines is the single best step you
can take toward keeping your immune
system strong and healthy. Every part of
your body, including your immune system,
functions better when protected from
environmental assaults and bolstered by
healthy-living strategies such as these

2. Relax.

Stress can actually reduce levels of

immunity. In contrast, patients who
recalled happy, non-stress the mind
indicates the level of immune higher.
Relaxation activities that can be done is
meditation, yoga, or breathing exercises
into your daily routine. Breathe deeply
and rhythmically helps the absorption of
oxygen pressure and release pressure
from the entire body. It creates a sense of
calm, clear the mind and sharpen public
awareness. Perform deep breathing at
least as early riser

3. The Getting Enough Rest and Sleep.

Sleep gives the opportunity for the immune

organ regeneration. While during sleep the
body undergoes certain important process of
repair and renewal for energy recovery. Sleep
is very important for our immune system, part
of the body works to fight infection.
Some scientists believe that during sleep
we secrete cortisol at higher levels (a
hormone secreted by the pituitary gland
which protects the immune system) than
during the day. At least six hours of sleep per
night

4. Exercise

Cycling, swimming or running on a

regular basis not only reduces stress, but
it encourages the efficient functioning of
the lymphatic system (the network of
vessels that take toxins and eliminate
them from the body).

Factors Affecting The Function

of Immune System
1. Age
Decreased ability to react adequately to the
invaded microorganisms.
Disruption of production of B and T lymphocytes
Thin skin, not elastic, peripheral neuropathy,
and decreased circulation accompanying
sensitabilitas static and decubitus ulcers.

2. gender
Estrogen, Modulate the activity of T
lymphocytes in particular T cell suppressor
Activate B cells populations associated with
autoimmune markers that express CD5
Tends to promote immunity, while maintaining
androgen = immunosuppressive IL-2
production and activity of suppressor T cells
Androgens

Physiology Hypersensitivity
Reactions
Hypersensitivity reactions refer to
overreaction, undesirable (causing discomfort
and sometimes fatal) of the immune system.
In normal circumstances, the body's defense
mechanisms both humoral and cellular
dependent on activation of B cells and T cells
Excessive activation by antigens or disruption
of this mechanism, would lead to a condition
called hypersensitivity reactions
imunopatologik.

4 types of hypersensitivity reaction

Type I hypersensitivity reaction or

anaphylactic reaction.
Type II hypersensitivity reactions or cytotoxic.
Type III hypersensitivity reactions or immune
complexes.
Type IV hypersensitivity reaction or cellmediated reactions.
Based on the speed of the reaction type I,
type II and III include fast as mediated by a
humoral response (involving antibodies) and
type IV including delayed type

CONCLUTION
Immune system is the biological system of protection
outside influence by special cells and organs in an
organism.
Immune system is working properly, the system will
protect the body against bacterial and viral infections,
as well as destroying cancer cells and other foreign
substances in the body. If the immune system weakens,
its ability to protect the body also decreases, thus
causing pathogens, including viruses that cause colds
and flu, can develop in the body. The immune system
also provides monitoring of tumor cells, and inhibition of
this system has also been reported to increase the risk
of some types of cancer.
