 Entrepreneurship is regarded as one of the important


determinants of the industrial growth of the country.

 Hence, it is said that an economy is an effect for which


entrepreneurship is the cause.

 The dearth of the entrepreneurial and managerial skill is


one of the most common problems being faced by all
under developed economies.

 Entrepreneurship is to be promoted:
– to help alleviate(lessen) the unemployment problem,
– to overcome the problem of stagnation and

– to increase the competitiveness and growth of business and 


industries.
 Various attempts have been made to promote and develop
entrepreneurship.
 By giving specific assistance to improve the competence of
the entrepreneur and his enterprise so as to make him and his
entrepreneurial so that more people become entrepreneurs.
Objectives of EDP
 Develop & strengthen their entrepreneurial quality,

 Analyze environmental set up relating to small industry


& small business,
 Select product,

 Formulate project for the product,

 Understand the process & procedure involved in setting


up a small enterprise,

 know the sources of help & support available for starting a
small scale industry,

 Acquire the necessary managerial skills required to run a


small enterprise,

 Know the pros & cons in becoming an entrepreneur,

 Appreciate the needed entrepreneurial discipline.


COURSE CONTENTS & CURRICULUM
OF EDPs
 The course contents of an EDP are in line with the
objectives of the EDP.
 The training programme is usually of six weeks’
duration. It consists of the following six inputs:
 General introduction to entrepreneurship:
 such as knowledge of factors affecting small scale
industries,
 The role of entrepreneur in economic development,
 entrepreneurial behavior & facilities available for
establishing small scale enterprise.

 Motivation training
 Efforts are made to inject confidence & positive attitude & behavior

among the participants towards business.

 Managerial skills
 running a small or large scale business requires the managerial

skills.

 Support system & procedure


 The participants also need to be exposed to the support available

from different institutions & agencies for setting up & running a


small scale enterprise.

 Fundamentals of project feasibility study:


 participants are provided guidelines on the effective analyses of

feasibility or viability of the particular project in view of marketing,


organizing, technical, financial, social aspects etc.
 knowledge is also given how to prepare the ‘project’ or ‘feasibility

report’ for certain products.

 Plant visits:
 In order to familiarize the participants with real life situations in

small business, plant visits are also arranged.


PHASES OF EDPs
 PRE TRAINING PHASE:
 The activities & preparations required to launch the

training program come under this phase.


 TRAINING PHASE:
 The main objective of this phase is to bring

desirable change in the behavior of the trainies.


 POST TRAINING PHASE:
 Also known as FOLLOW UP

 It involves assessment to judge how far the

objectives of the program have been achieved.
