INTRODUCTION
Invented by Dr.J.Stross Hall.
Foglets consists of microscopic computers
,gears,motors with telescopic arms .
Arms interlock power & communication.
Individual foglets 2-3 % of space.
TRANSPARENT UPCLOSE & CLOUDY AT A
DISTANCE.
Trillions of foglets- mass ,motion, appearance &
strength.

STRUCTURE OF FOG
Foglet uses six arms to hold its
neighbors in the
layer; layers are thus a 2dimensionally rigid fabric of
equilateral triangles.
Space filled with foglet is
called Utility Fog

STRUCTURE OF FOGLET
Foglet are Little Robots of
human cell size
12 arms pointing in all
directions, each arm having
four degree of freedom.
Grippers at the End Of the
arms for Interlinking

MODES OF OPERATION

Native Mode
Mobility : Forming Different Structures
like Table, Chair etc.

Fog Mode
Static : Forming screens
On immovable objects like walls,
as Tv and Displaying Device.

STRUCTURE OF UTILITY FOG

Nanotech designs based on carbons
Forms a crystal which is very stiff and strong
Structural element of Foglet made of aluminium oxide
Inside this sensitive non mechanical components can
operate
Each Foglet has 12 arms
Arms rotate on the joint at the base
Gripper rotate about arm axis

MOVEMENT OF FOG
Fog consists of layers of Foglets
Each Foglet uses six arms for interlocking with
Foglets of same layer
Thus 2-D rigid fabric of equi. Triangles formed
The Foglets slides to change shape
Fog moves an object by setting up a seed shaped
zone around it
Extension and retraction rate of arm-10m/s
Avg. interlayer movement rate-100m/sec/mm of
thickness of layer

Communications & Control

12 arms & 3 axis control

Simpler controllers give commands
Each computer - nano watts
Trillions of computers few kW heat produced
Foglet when stationery- stand by mode
this reduces 90 % heat generation

PROPERTIES
Self-reproducing and Self-generating
Power : Hydrogen (stored) combined with atmospheric
oxygen to produce energy and collects water vapour for
its separation. 700kw power consumed/cc for
movement.
Absolute movement speed 1m/sec.
Tensile Strength : 1000 psi
Can sustain 100 m/s sheer per mm of thickness
Foglet though heavier than air, it is programmed to
simulate its physical property so that you cant feel it .
Individual foglets can communicate with each other

APPLICATIONS
Can act as shelter, clothing telephone computer and
automobile
Can form your Home TV
Fill the cabin of the spaceship with Utility fog never
worry about floating out of reach of a handhold
Inside spacesuit manages air pressure and make
motion easy
It can make car-seatbelts for safety.
It can change the appearance of the car

Limitations of U-fog
Things that fog isnt capable of doing:
Hard metal-drill bit
High strength & low weight
High heat
Anything required chemical transformation
Food
Can simulate wind but not air

Advantages Of U-fog Environment

Car crash
Fog house protection within 98%of lethal blast area
Bacteria free
Accidents in factories can be avoided
Household accidents avoided- staircas, knife ,
bookshelf.
Cleaning non existant
Factories- transportation & operation of machines

CONCLUSION
Utility fog will provide human with powers that
approximate those of a fictional machine.
It provides nano-technology replacement for all physical
equipments we see around
This technology is going to have very sound effect on
future and the researches are going on this technnology
to make it more compatible and sophisticated.
