Human coronaviruses 229E and OC43, and newly discovered types NL63
and HKU1, have been linked to community-acquired pneumonia in
children. Infection with human coronavirus was detected in 3% of children
and adolescents in a large pneumonia study in Thailand.
Concomitant influenza virus and Staph auereus infection can cause fatal
pneumonia in children and adults.
