manage stress.

Concept of stress
- Associated with mental health.
- Pressure which is very common in life.
- Ones physical and mental respond towards a situation that
could cause discomfort in life.

STRESS
POSITIVE

-Stress at low rate can


motivate an individual to
achieve what he wants to
achieve.

NEGATIVE

Stress at high rate could


cause harm such as falling ill
or having bad relationship.

Types of stress
Here and Now Stress
- Stress that occurs at that particular time.
Anticipation Stress
- Refers to a situation when a teacher reacts to an expected situation.
Imaginative Stress
- Occurs when an individual imagines of a negative or frightful things.
Reactive Stress
- occurs due to our past experiences and events. Happens naturally.
Negative Stress
- Is a feeling that could reach at its peak at certain duration.

work and shows the behaviour of sabotage in

Suicide or attempted suicide.

Increased high risked behaviour, including


getting careless in driving.

Declining quality relationship with family and


friends.

Increased use of alcohol, drug and banned


subtances.

PHYSICAL SIGNS

Increased heart rate, blood pressure and


tendency of suffering from cardiovascular
disease.

increased injuries and accidents to the body.

Physical fatigue and likely to suffer from


chronic fatigue syndrome.

Headache. Pain and muscle tension.

Increased secretion of stress hormones


(example, adrenaline and noradrenaline)

Disorders of the skin

May experience interference of


gastrointestinal including irritable bowel
syndrome, inflammation and ulceration of
colon wall.

Requirements exceeds the capabilities of teachers

Numbers of teachers are small.

Lack of mentoring culture new teachers usually will need guidance from the senior
teachers.

No recognition and awards given, unclear job expectations , unsystematic working


environment .

In the social aspect, one works so hard without rest, having no time to

Socialize, given lots of work without getting any assistance, lack of sleep and support.

Teachers personality is also the cause of burnout.
