What Is Motivation?
Motivation
Is the result of an interaction between the person and
a situation; it is not a personal trait.
Is the process by which a persons efforts are
energized, directed, and sustained towards attaining
a goal.
Safety needs
a persons needs for security and protection from physical and
emotional harm.
Social needs
a persons needs for affection, belongingness, acceptance, and
friendship.
Esteem needs
a persons needs for internal factors (e.g., self-respect, autonomy,
and achievement) and external factors (such as status,
recognition, and attention).
Self-actualization needs
a persons need to become what he or she is capable of becoming.
