India (2000 2010): With the availability of abundance of

skilled and highly talented workforce, it was really not
difficult for enterprises like Infosys, TCS, WIPRO etc. to
capitalize on the opportunity offered by developed
nations for software solutions at a considerable low cost

Brief Analysis of This Trend: A large share in global list of patents will
carry a lot of meaning in future. Chinese companies are being helped by
authorities in applying for overseas patents and many financial
incentives are offered. China patent strategy is a part of broad national
plan to boost innovation

China (2011 2015): The aim is to come out of the imitation-tag and
move into an economy that derives strength from innovation.
China's State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) received more than
half a million invention patents out of a total of about 1.6 million
patent applications filed in 2011. Out of these, over 172,000
invention patents were granted. By year 2015, the annual target for
patent filings is 2000,000 (two million). This includes (a) utilitymodel-patents for new engineering features in a product and (b)
invention-patents involving higher creativity for practical use
