Introduction

PV cells:
A photovoltaic cell is a specialized semiconductor
diode that converts visible light into direct current (DC).

Classification of PV cells:
1. Low Concentration PV (LCPV) - 1 to 40 suns
2. Medium Concentration PV (MCPV) - 40 to 300 suns
3. High Concentration PV (HCPV) 300 to 2000 suns.

India's largest photovoltaic (PV) power plants :

1. Reliance Power Pokhran Solar PV Plant, Rajasthan, 40MW.
2. Adani-Bitta Solar Plant, Gujarat, 40MW.
3. Moser Baer - Patan, Gujarat, 30MW.
4. Azure Power - Sabarkantha, Gujarat, 10MW.
5. Green Infra Solar Energy Limited - Rajkot, Gujarat, 10

light reflection losses (3.1%)

low radiation and shadowing losses (3.2%)
DC board losses (1.2%)
DC/AC conversion losses (4%)
temperature losses (7.6%)

The major fraction of losses is related to the temperature
increase of the silicon solar cells.
Proper cooling system is necessary to operate the system
under concentrated radiation.

OBJECTIVE
To design a cooling system for concentrate photovoltaic cells
inorder to obtain higher net output power of CPV cells and
prolong their life time.
Fabrication of PV panel and microchannels with required
dimensions.

COOLING SYSTEM
Methods of cooling system

Passive methods

Microchannels...etc

MICRO CHANNELS

Channels diameter lies in between 0.2-3mm.

High heat transfer rates.
Relatively low pressure drops.
Low fabrication costs.
Ease of fabrication

. The steady state heat removal efficiency of the liquid
can be given as:
.The maximum power of the pv module can be calculated by
using relationship:

Infrared absorption spectra of different organic and inorganic liquids

Temperature profile versus time of day of at different conditions

maximum power(Pmax) vs time of day for different conditions of

solar radiation

2. A comparative study on using single and multi header

microchannels in a hybrid PV cell cooling:
Masoud Rahimi , Masomeh Asadi, Nooshin Karami, Ebrahim Karimi

The PV cell has effective area of 26*13 cm^2 and series of noncircular microchannels with a hydraulic diameter of 0.667
considered.

The two different geometries of the microchannels are fabricated on

Plexiglas plates with a thickness of 10 mm using a computer
numerical control (CNC) machine to achieve high accuracy.
An ideal liquid should have good thermal conductivity, low
viscosity, long-term chemical and physical stability.
De-ionized water was used to remove heat from pv cell.

By using experiment results various graphs plotted:

module cooling

In this paper, they proposed some

correlations. it is shown that the
proposed correlation predicts well
the effects of inclination angle
and fin spacing on the thermal
performance of the natural
convective heat sink with platefins.

This characteristic involves

that,
the average heat exchange
coefficient of micro-channel
cooling schemes is slightly
higher than the one of the
hybrid heat sink
