INTRODUCTION
As a partial fulfillment of the syllabus as prescribed by the R.T.M.N.U., it is to

undertake
Industrial Case Study (ICS) on major bridges under the guidance of Prof. D.
Bhure
Industrial training is an environment provides opportunity to develop problems
solving
attitude and to have an insight into the functioning of the actual
work .It makes the fresh engineer some familiar to actual situation of the site.
Bridge is a structure facilitating a communication route for carrying road traffic
or other moving loads over a depression or obstruction such as river, stream,
channel or railway route. The communication route may be railway track, a
tramway, a footpath, a cycle track or aa combination of them.
The advent of new materials affected the development of bridge building.
timber, stone, cast iron, wrought iron, later by mild steel are replace with the
new invention and new technique. Now a day R.C.C. Bridge, suspension bridges
are more popular for better strength and stability. R.C.C. bridge failed to satisfy
requirements of realizing larger span for bigger bridges. Hence in India pre
stressed concrete was adopted more than two decades ago since R.C.C.
bridges failed to satisfy the requirements for larger spans. Also post tensioned
girders are suitable for large span bridges have soon been given large box
girder
