Values are the outcomes or results achieved after teaching

according to these aims.


They are the actual results of our teaching efforts.

Practical or Utilitarian value


In our day to day life we find various practical application

of mathematics.
Labors , doctors , engineers , scientists, industrialists,
traders , businessman , administrators etc uses
mathematics in their day to day life.
It is impossible to live without the knowledge of
mathematics in the present world.
Mathematics is needed for all jobs for e.g. for a laborer he
uses mathematical knowledge for calculating his wages to
purchase from markets etc.

Intellectual value
Mathematics help the students to develop intellectual

powers like imagination, memorization, observation ,


invention, concentration, originality, creativity, reasoning
and problem solving.
As a child faces mathematical problems his mind become
active in solving that problem.

Social value
Mathematics plays an important role in the proper

organization and maintenance of social institutions such as


banks , co-operates railways , post office and so on .
More over the social values like tolerance, open
mindedness, objectivity, truthfulness, co-operation,
honesty, and will power are also can be acquired by the
study of mathematics.

Moral Value
Child develops the qualities like honesty, truthfulness,

justice, dutifulness, punctuality, self confidence , power of


distribution between right and wrong, cleanness, patience ,
listen to others and respect them etc .
It deprives off the feelings of jealousy , hate etc.
A student of mathematics will be able to argue on the
correctness and incorrectness of a statement

Disciplinary value
Learning mathematics make a person disciplined in his

life.
Mathematical knowledge is exact, logical , real and to that
point and that is why it creates discipline in a human
mind.
A scientific study of mathematics is sure to help the
students to imbibe qualities like concentration ,
truthfulness, seriousness, hard work, punctuality,
regularity, neatness, orderliness as well as traits like
precision and regularity.

Cultural Value
The culture of a nation or society we mean the mode of

living of its inhabitants.


Mathematics helps in promoting cultural heritage and
transmitting it to future generation.
The welfare of our civilization is almost depends upon
scientific and mathematical developments.

International Value
Mathematicians researches their mathematical ideas from

one nation to another nation.


Mathematics books and journals circulated among almost
all the nations of the world.

Vocational Value
Almost all vocation need the knowledge of mathematics.
E.g. accountancy, banking ,business , engineering,

information technology, tailoring , carpentry, surveying


etc.

Aesthetic Value
One get pleasure in solving mathematical problems,

especially when he get correct answers to his problems.


Mathematics is closely related with arts like drawing,
painting, music and dance.
All musical instruments like harmonium, drum , flute,
guitar, violin etc are played with the rules of mathematics.

Psychological Value
Mathematics helps to develop positive attitudes such as

open mindedness, ,reasoning etc.


The learning of mathematics is based on fundamental
principles of psychology such as learning by doing
learning through experiences and problem solving etc.

Conclusion
Learning of mathematics results in the development of a
number of fruitful values in the students. Only a
resourceful teacher of mathematics with his deliberate
efforts and planning can make it possible for the students
to realize these values.
