REPORT ON
WATERPROOFING TEST
DONE ON AAC BLOCKS
USING DIFFERENT
CHEMICALS
Introduction:
Water proofing is done on AAC ( Aerocon) blocks which has >
40 % water absorption, using different type of water proofing
chemicals. Application is done by different vendors.
Aerocon blocks are cut into 100X100X100 mm samples and
initial weights of the samples are taken. Then water proofing is
done on these blocks using different chemicals supplied by
applicator. Samples are allowed to dry for one day and dry
weight of the treated sample is recorded before immersing in
water.
Samples are immersed in water for 24 hours and weight of the
cube samples are recorded when they are in surface dry
condition.
Then, the percentage absorption of treated sample is been
calculated and the average of three samples is the %
absorption of water by the treated Aerocon block sample.
Application procedure:
1. The surfaces should be clean and free from
dust, loose particles, oil and grease.
2. Fill cracks and joints with crack filling
material Protekta Flex joint (if any)
3. Protekta Base should be stirred well and
then diluted 1:1 with water, just before
use.
4. Spray application is done using a low
pressure pump on block sample.
5. Allow surface of the treated sample to dry.
6. Protekta G is supplied as two liquid
components as Protekta G and Heart.
Just before application, add Heart into
Protekta G and mixed well.
7. Spray Protekta G evenly using low pressure
pump over the entire area of block sample.
Allow the sample to dry.
Test Results:
Dry weight of treated sample 1 = 716.5 gm.
Dry weight of treated sample 2 = 723. 0 gm.
Dry weight of treated sample 3 = 685.0 gm.
