Definition

Labor welfare means


the adaptation of
measures to the physical, psychological and
general well being of the working population.
Labor welfare anything done for comfort and
improvement, intellectual and social, of the
employees over the wages paid, which is not a
necessity of the industry.

The scope of labor welfare has to elastic and


flexible enough to suit the existing conditions
of the workers and to include all the essential
prerequisites of life and minimum basic
amenities.

Labor welfare is one of the major determinates of


industrial relations. It develops a sense of responsibility,
initiative and co-operation can be fostered among the
workers. Welfare measures are importance to reduce
absenteeism and turnover in the industries.
