INTRODUCTION

Radio instruments use radio waves.

It began as wireless telegraphy.

In 1894 , Italian inventor gulielmo marconi

built the first complete , commercially
successful wireless telegraphy system
based on radio waves.

History of radio
broadcasting

First radio transmission was made

from a temporary station set up by
Gugliemo Marconi in 1895.
Broadcasting of music & talk
started commercially in 1920.
By 1950, virtually every country
had a broadcasting system.
In 1960, with the introduction of
small inexpensive portable
transistor radio, expanded the
ownership & usage

Radio is an important aid to foster sense of

national integration & international
understanding among people.

Because it reaching at all levels of people

providing so many programs through
broadcast.

Entertainment
Radio is helpful to utilize our leisure time
carefully through different programs.

Radio provide vocational education because
so many employment news & selfemployment programs are accessible to the
people to radio.

Effective in creative awareness regarding many social
issues.
It can help increativing a positive climate for growth and
development.
It can change the outlook of the people towards life .
Research shows that radio is an effective medium for
education when it is followed up with group discussion
and question answer session.
It caters to a large rural population which has no access
to TV and where there is no power supply.

Conclusion
Presently radio has many forms ranging,
from warless networks, mobile
communications to radio & broadcasting.
Early commercial radio broadcasts included
news, music, dramas, comedies & many
other variety shows.
